3. Try Jonathon Sheppard Books, Box 2020, ESP Station, Albany, NY 12220. They have a lot of good old maps for reasonable prices. I'm using their eastern half of PA map currently and although it's dated 1885-1887 it shows all of the old 18th century places I need. I hear tell that the society is all but none existant and has no set hours to do research. I myself, would like to have been able to research the news papers, as my grandfather I'm sure, would have been a regular in the police blotter for stealing cars in Pottstown in the early 1900's. I would very much like to find the birth and baptism record of my great-grandfather Charles Fenstermacher. His parents? I think, are buried in the cemetery there, and a Rev. Daniel Wiser officiated at the baptism. Thank you, Patricia Palmer in Portland, Oregon Pat_Palmer@email.msn.com http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/p/a/l/Patricia-L-Palmer /

    3. Listees: Is there anyone who goes to the HIstorical Society im Pottstown? I am in AL and a little far to go, but need someone to copy the newspaper clippings there for Daniel W LANDIS and his wife Clara SAVAGE LANDIS, his mother-in-law Charlotte K MOHR SAVAGE, and brother WIlliam H LANDIS. Daniel or D.W, is my gr grandfather. He died in 1886. Clara, my gr grandmother, died in 1900 and her mother Charlotte K SAVAGE died in 1902. I don't know what happened to William H LANDIS and would hope there might be something in the files there. Daniel had two brothers, Aaron and Allen, who both died in the Civil War. Allen's military file shows he was from Pottstown before he went into the 116 Regt. His father, Daniel LANDIS, lived in WarwIck Twp in Chester Co, at that time and took his body from Phila to Potttstown to be buried in 1864. Allen is buried in St Peter's Reformed (UCC) Church Cemetery in Knauertown. Daniel W owned a dry good store, LANDIS and SNELL, on the NW corner of Penn and HIgh Sts (1880's). There might be something about this business as well at the Hist Soc.. Whatever the costs, I will be happy to reimburse. Please contact me for my address if you are able to go there. audiana@webtv.net Thank you so much and have a wonderful Thanksgiving to you all. Diana

    3. Anne-- If you get the information on the church cemeteries, could you please forward it to me also? I read Falkner's Swamp Ref. Church on LDS film--all German inscriptions & mine were not there. They were German Ref. after getting to VA so I would think they would be there. Does anyone know what church people in that area might have gone to prior to 1740's when Falkner's Swamp Ref. Church started its records?? Donna

    2. Hi Willard, I just happened to read your post that you were from Gilbertsville; one of my favorite places to go is the big "Gilbertsville Flea Market Sale". I am originally from Spinnerstown where my parents had the General Store. I have a lot of family still in the area and visit there from time to time - now I am in Upstate New York, Rochester area. I am researching Buzby, Benner, Feaster, etc. as well as my maiden name Simitz Family Website and need to come to Spruance and spend a lot of time there researching my Bucks, Montgomery, Lehigh County, Pa. names. Just wanted to say hello to someone in my hometown area. Thanks, Lea Simitz Buzby
