My gr gr grndmother died 12/4/1902 in Talladega while visiting her daughter and was taken back to Pottstown to be buried in Mt Zion Cemetery. I was able to request a microfilm from the AL state archives thru inter-library loan at my local library for the paper in print then in Talladega. Does anyone know if this can be done in PA? 2. Carol M. Watts
    3. Alan or others, you may get inundated with questions to answer from your sources because many of us would like Brenda's success! Do you find anything about a family named McGONEGAL or MANAGAIL or one named MONTIETH or MONTEITH in the early 1800s? My gggrandfather was David Montieth (or ei) who immigrated from Northern Ireland in about 1818 at age 18. He must have married Margaret (McGonegal or ??) in about 1825. She was born in Chestnut Hill in 1808 and they were still living in Whitemarsh Township in 1830 with one son who has disappeared from subsequent records. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 3. Brenda, I just checked in "Pennsylvania German Church Records, II" and I find the listing of Joh.. Christophel Brechbiel in the Records of the Lutheran Church of New Hanover. It also lists the birth as 29 July 1748 and bapt as 31 July 1748. The parents are Isac and Maria Catharine. The witnesses were John Schimmel and Margareth, and Christophel Schwing. I don't know why the two sources give different churches. The additional information of the witnesses may give some clue as to other family names. Hope this helps. 3. Brenda, There are only two listings for BRECHBIEL/ BRECHBIEHL in "Montgomery County Births" by Humphrey. They are at Falkner Swamp Reformed Church in New Hanover. The first is: Isaac BRECHBIEHL and wife had John Jacob, bp 15 April 1750. The other is: Isac BRECHBIEL and Maria Catharine had Joh. Christophel, b 29 July 1748. The name spellings are as listed in the ref. Alan Eckert in VA Note that this is Falkner Swamp REFORMED in Hew Hanover, not New Hanover LUTHERAN. ----- Original Message ----- From: <BSte902278@aol.com> To: <PAMONTGO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 04, 1999 7:07 PM Subject: [PAMONTGO-L] Brechbiel-1748-New Hanover > Hello, > Does anyone have access to Humphrey's "History of Montgomery County" who > could look up Isac Brechbiel for me. 3. Hi Margaret, Beside the ones that Diana mentioned, there is Huber's church which is now Christ Lutheran Niantic in Niantic, Pa. St. Mark's in Pennsburg started in the mid 1850's this church broke off of St. Paul's Lutheran and then split into St. Mark's Lutheran and Pennsburg Reformed Church now called the Pennsburg UCC church. There is also Friedens Union Church in Sumneytown, Pa. also the 1800's. Also a Catholic church in East Greenville. It is called St. Phillip Neri. 1. [PAMONTGO-L] Brechbiel Lookup
    2. I just wanted to take time to publicly thank Chloerr49 & Alan for responding to my lookup request. I can't tell you how much this means. Chloerr49 even sent me additional info that match my time period very well. As I told Alan it was all I could do to keep from letting out a war hoop and waking my sleeping husband. LOL. I immediatly went to the Switzerland Online Genealogy and sent a request to the person who does that Canton. Now when he replies-Maybe I'll have an early Christmas present. Thanks Again, Brenda

I am so excited. I can hardly keep from whooping and hollering but I would wake up my sleeping husband who doesn't understand genealogy at all. LOL. Thanks again, I really appreciate what you have done. Brenda

But I can find no other reference as to his Father or Mother or siblings where he might have immigrated from. I did the FHC Canton Berne, Trachswald, Switzerland films and could not find any birth, baptizism or marriage for him. I also ordered "Marriages and Deaths of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania 1685-1800 and could find no reference to him. That's two churches with Goshenhoppen in the name in Upper Hanover. There's even another Goshenhoppen - Old Goshenhoppen Lutheran in Upper Salford Twsp. Next to Upper Hanover Twsp, there's New Hanover Twsp where you'll find Falkner Swamp Reformed and New Hanover Lutheran. If you are looking for births, there is a book by John T Humphreys "Pennsylvania Births, Montgomery County 1682-1800." Also available on CD from FTM and at FHL film #0021950. Hope this helps. Diane

    1. [PAMONTGO-L] BRECHBIEL, ISAC (ISAAC) 1748 and earlier
    2. Hello, I have information that Isac Brechbiel's son, Joh. Christophel, was baptized at Lutheran Church in New Hanover, also another son listed in Swamp Reformed church later. However I cannot find where Isac was during his earlier years, or his parents names. He is not listed on any ship record. Does anyone have an idea where I might begin the search. I have checked the Brechbuehl's (name spelled in German) who came over from Trachswald, Switzerland Berne Canton from LDS records and can find no mention of an Isac in the Birth, Baptizism, or marriage records. I do know he was married to Catherine. Does this relate to anyone else's line or again does anyone have any ideas. Thanks, Brenda BSte902278@aol.com
