    2. Hi Bob: You are right that Corson Lime is near Wings field, it was the oldest Lime Quarry in the U.S. unfortunately I was the Human Resources/Safety Manager there and was there when the sold to Highway Materials, they no longer mine lime there and only one quarry is operational they are filling in the lake and the other quarry, I guess to build homes. But I wanted to thank you for your reply. Yes this genealogy group is great and another treasure I found was www.HeritageQuest.com I have been ordering the census CD's for only $14.95 (I am a member and they just released 1920 Census they have all the states if you haven't looked into this yet. Hope this helps, Edie

    2. The following is a desc. chart of one William ENGARD of the third generation who migrated to Botetourt Co., VA from Montgomery Co., PA before 1800. It appears that one of his sisters, Dorothy/Dollie, went with her husband, Jacob GREGORY to the area also. William's children married into the SNYDER family. I suspect John was from around the Phila. area. Do any of you SNYDERS have folks who left PA and went to VA? Descendants of William ENGARD 1 William ENGARD b: Abt. 1766 prob. 1. Re: [PAMONTGO-L] Quarrys in Montgomery County
    2. Hi Edie, Thanks very much for your reply about the Corson quarry in P-W. Isn't that the one on Stenton Ave., a little way below Wings Field? I remember using Corson's lime, the 40# bags, in mortar as I built my house many years ago. If you had anything to do with the quarrying, processing, or bagging of that material, you are to be commended, because that was the finest lime on the market. I further commend you for replying to my question. Truly, people like you are what make genealogy so much fun. I can only imagine how difficult this research must have been before the 'net. Thanks again, Bob Reifsneider Orange Park, FL

    1. Re: [PAMONTGO-L] Marriage in Pennsylvania
    2. Betty J. Burdan
    3. It is my understanding that PA currently allows a marriage licensed issued in one county to be used in other counties, however the record of application remains in the county where applied for. The record of the actual marriage should be returned to the county of issue, regardless of which county the marriage takes place in. If the license is applied for in Berks the return will be made to Berks, and if it is filed for in Montgomery the return record of the actual marriage should be in Montgomery. Marriage license applications are public record. Finding the record of marriage can depend on the time of the marriage. Prior to the erection of Montgomery County, the records were in Philadelphia. There is a long history of elopements in PA, and brides traveling to their husbands location during war time to get married. Are you certain they got married in PA? Betty Burdan <bjburdan@ptd.net>

    1. [PAMONTGO-L] Marriage in Pennsylvania
    2. Dear Researchers, Pennsylvania issues a state license to get married meaning the application can be completed in one county and the wedding ceremony can be in that county or any of the other 66 counties in Pennsylvania. Does the application follow the couple or does the application stay on file in the county where the couple applied for the marriage license? If the application stays in the county where it was applied for would the application be in the marriage license department of that county and is the application considered a public record? I'm having a challenge finding a marriage license so I'm trying to question the application process and how it interfaces with the license. I've looked up quite a few marriage records and they all fit nicely together in that the application and marriage both took place in the same county but now I'm faced with the application in one county and the actual marriage in another county and I need some guidance to follow through on this concept. Thanks for your help and guidance. Suzanna
