My grandparents Abram and Bertha Hoover Nash owned the property from 1903 until 1950. Did a Garner own the property prior to my grandparents? Sure would appreciate any information which could be forecoming. Milton Webb >> Milton, My husband's ancestor, Martin and Eva SCHMIIDT, owned a Green Tree Hotel in Morgantown, Berks Co., in the early 1800's. I have a photo and article about it. Could this be the same place? By the way, you can contact the State Archives to check on their annual liquor license renewals to find out the exact years they owned it. Marilyn

    1. [PAMONTGO-L] SMITH and DYER families
    2. C & C Helck
    3. Is anyone researching the surnames SMITH and DYER in Montgomery Co. in the mid 1800s? Probably everybody is researching a SMITH somewhere, right?? All I know is: Lillian Smith b.c. 1846 in Ogontz, Mont. Co (per her death certificate). Her parents' names on censuses and death record are Henry Smith (what a nice, uncommon name) and Mary Dyer. Henry's bp is listed as PA while Mary's is listed as MA. Lillian may have had a sister, Mary who married a Corbin. They were Episcopalian, and had moved to the Germantown/Chestnut Hill area of Phila. by 1866, when Lillian married my g-g grandfather, William Sibson, at St. Luke's Church. So I am assuming the Smiths had some (perhaps brief) association with the Ogontz/Elkins Park section of the county. Thanks in advance Catharine Helck

    1. [PAMONTGO-L] Bennett lookup
    2. Bill Chappell
    3. Hi everyone, Can anyone out there look up Lewis and Fannie Bennett in the 1850 census or taxes or obits. Their daughter lived in Port Kennedy at that time (Caroline Bennett Horton). However, same daughter was married in Phila. But according to Philly directories of that year, there are no Lewis and Fannie Bennetts. I know this is just a stab in the dark, but I would love to find these people. Thank you, Jeanne

    1. [PAMONTGO-L] FRAT/FRATT
    2. William FRAT/FRATT was also a grandchild of Philip ENGARD and mentioned in his Will dated 1811. I am only assuming that William was the son of William FRAT who was born in 1784. The Will of William2 names his wife and children. You can see by the following desc. chart what all I am missing in the way of names, dates, and places. Descendants of (female) ENGARD 1 (female) ENGARD d: Bef. 1811 ... +William FRATT b: Abt. 1784 ..... 2 William FRATT b: Bef. 1811 d: Abt. 1. [PAMONTGO-L] HOWSER
    2. Looking to chat with any of you who are researching HOWSER. Looking for the HOWSER/HOUSER who married MARY, a granddaughter of Philip ENGARD. Mary may have been the daughter of Elizabeth ENGARD who married Andreas/Andrew WILHELMS/WILLIAMS in 1798, prob. Montgomery Co., PA. I realize I don't have much to offer you in the way of information, so it's a long shot; but would appreciate your checking your databases for HOWSERS with wives named Mary/Maria/Anna Maria and no surname identified. Mary would have been born before 1811 and prob. after 1791. Gerre Engard Byrd

    3. The Philadelphia City archivist told me that the Germantown/Chestnut Hill cemetery no longer exists. That he *thinks* the records were removed to Ivy Hill cemetery. Can anyone help? Where are the records? How would I access them? I'm looking for the approximate death date of my gr grandmother, and I think she died in childbirth in 1871 -- and the possible still birth burial and cemetery record of an unnamed BATES might be the clue I need.
