JOHN BUZZARD (abt1793-6/16/1856) married Hannah SAVAGE (2/17/1794-??) on 1/2/1816 in Redding, PA (I'm not sure if this place is the same as Reading in Berks Co.) Hannah was dau of Zenas SAVAGE and Catherine (BOYER) of Coventry, Chester Co PA). John and Hannah were located in 1850 Census Records living in Upper Providence, Montgomery Co with a daughter Mahala, age 22. They may have also lived in Perkiomen. Hannah donated a white vest, worn by her father, Zenas SAVAGE at his marriage, in 1784, to the Montgomery Co Centienniel Celebration in 1884. Does anyone have information on this family? The surname is also spelled BOSSERT as well as BUZZARD. Diana
I have a Philip WILLIAMS b/bapt. 25/26 Oct 1802. His father was Andreas/Andrew WILHELMS/WILLIAMS and his mother Elizabeth. However, I have an entirely different surname for Elizabeth. And it does appear this family was in Philadelphia 1810 (Upper Dublin), 1830, & 1840 Bristol Twp. 1830 & 1840. I'd like to hear from you on this 'cause Philip had brothers Henrich, Conrad, & Andrew, a sister Catharine, and another sister unknown at this time. Gerre Engard Byrd
Am looking for any information on John McVaugh, born about 1790-1794, probably Montgomery County. He has one son I am sure of, Hiram McVaugh, born about 1812 and Hiram married a woman named Jane. Hiram and Jane went on to have a family of 9 children. From what records I have been able to uncover, the family seems to have been in the Abington area of Montgomery County their entire history until the present generation. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am more than willing to share what information I have.
Help for historical landmark http://home.att.ne t/~florencestockade/friends.htm Recently my husband and I visited the Florence National Cemetery in Florence, SC. There my GGGrandfather, Edgar Haner, was buried in Oct 1864. He had been a prisoner of war at the Florence Stockade. This is a beautiful six acre cemetery surrounded by a red brick wall. The peace we found there was very moving to us and I am sure in direct contrast to those awful days during the war. The Friends of the Florence Stockade (see site above) are in the process of gathering names of all soldiers that were at Florence during the war. (These records were lost.) They are also trying to preserve this site by purchasing the last portion of the land where Florence Stockade stood ........... Please visit this site ..... let them know if you have knowledge of anyone who may have served, or been imprisoned there..... and please consider helping them purchase the land on which this historic site stood. Thank you Nancy Francis
Is there any one that lives local that can look up a will for me? Joy
I'd like to thank everyone who answered my request for a verification on where to send for a PA death cert. I hurried off my request after Cbeener1 replied within minutes of my initial request. Thanks for reminding me to mention my relationship to the deceased. BUT, if I had only waited for BobR's message I would have realized that I screwed up. Bob mentioned that if my death happened in Philadelphia there was another address to send to. And yep, my person, altho living the vast majority of his life in Montgomery Co., decided to die in Philly. I guess these are some of the things that make genealogy so interesting. Thanks to all- Connie Jones

Dear Listers, Anyone who is searching the Shellenbergers who settled first in Hatfield/Franconia Township, Montgomery County and then later into Bucks County should check out the following website. The lineage for the known descendants of Hans Jergle Shellenberger (the person who we feel was the first immigrant) are listed. LDS lists Stephen Taylor COX as born 26 Nov. 1830. Of course, it lists two "different" locations! One is Upper, Providence, Montgomery, Pennsylvania. The other is Prov, Chester, Pennsylvania. Which is correct, if either, at that time, please. Also, is this the Stephen COX who had a daughter Anna Townsend COX? Who was his wife, if so? A Townsend, a DeArmond, something else? Here is what I show... MARRIED Thur. APRIL 19, 1877 TIME: 7:45 PM PLACE: Residence of brides mother, No 1214 Mt. Vernon St. Louis H. Ayers RESIDENCE: Philadelphia, Pa. Does anyone know where Enon Valley is/was ? The Rev Robert Dilworth conducted a marriage on 2/18/1867 between George Wahington Bates and Esther ?? What churches would have been there at that time? I'm trying to find the statistics of father and mother of Geo Washington Bates. Father's name was George Casner BATES b. 1787 and his mother was Esther HUSTON/HESTON/HUESTON Bates. b 1801 Esther Huston/Heston/Hueston may have been from North Wales, Gwynned Ruth in GA
Hi I'm new to this list and searching for Hughes in Montgomery Co. Henry B. and Martha Jane HUGHES (maiden name unknown) who raised a family in Bellefonte, Pa (Centre Co.) Annie Melissa Hughes, of Wheeling, WVA, dtr of John and Eliza S. Hughes, who was the second wife of William Garrett. Also Belle Hughes who married Robert Hamilton Reed and lived in Elliott, Iowa. The above names Annie Melissa and Belle Hughes were listed in "The Lamborn Family History Book," written by Samuel Lamborn as a later generation of my John Davis Hughes and Hannah Hicks family. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! Jean Corio Tampa, Fl
Yes, I know. But it was downtown Philly as we know it today. Christ Church is still in Philadelphia, and is still Episcopalian. Those records were never transferred to the Montgomery County when it was created. Sorry I missed the first part of the Rees queries but caught the one about Thomas Rees. According to info I received years ago my Sarah Rees b. unknown d. April 1824 in Montgomery Co., PA. Her parents thought to be Thomas Rees and Mary --------. Could this be the Thomas Rees who married the widow of George Savage?? My Sarah married mathew Brooke, Jr. b. 1719 Limerick Twp. Montgomery Co. d. 10 Oct. 1806, the son of Mathew Brooke & Ann Evans. I have never been able to trace who my Sarah's parents were for sure. Among Sarah (Rees) Brooke's children was Eleanor Brooke b. 21 Aug. 1753 prob. Limerick Twp. m. David Davis in 1773 (my ancestors). Does anybody know my Sarah's parentage for sure. I have been stopped with her for years. Harriet in the Thumb of Michigan
My first answer would be at the Montg Co Hist Soc which is an excellent library in Norristown. The PA Hist/Gen'l Soc in phila also has excellent church records on microfilm. Humphrey's book on births does not include any who were not baptized as infants, e.g. Baptists. I found one of my Welsh families, the Hughes at St. David's, going back to 1700. I saw the Presbyterian records, probably at Norristown. There is also an excellent Presby Archives in Philadelphia. I am not acquainted with any of these records on Internet because I did most of my research B.I. (before Internet).
