I HAVE NO FURTHER INFORMATION. I AM NOT RELATED IN ANYWAY. FYI. The Topeka Capital-Journal Topeka, Shawnee County, KS Wednesday - July 30, 2003 Paul A. Clemmer Paul A. Clemmer died peacefully Monday morning after a two-month bout with cancer. He was born Aug. 9, 1923, to Elwood and Mary Clemmer in Norristown, Pa. Paul grew up with his siblings: Robert (deceased), Greg (deceased), Cathy Heijermans and Margaret Roberts. While stationed at Forbes Air Force Base he met Melba Worswick and they were married Jan. 25, 1945. This union was blessed with four daughters: Diana Carpenter, Oak Park, Ill., Dana Brennan and Deborah Eberline, both of Topeka, and Mary Lowery, Silver Lake. Paul also is survived by his grandchildren: Scott and Carrie Carpenter, Michael and Marcy Brennan, and Amanda Stricker, Noel Benjamin, Timothy and Alexandra Eberline, and Angela Schnee, Joshua and Sean Lowery. He also is survived by five great-grandchildren. For many years Paul and Melba served he community as the proprietors of Clemmers Furniture Store on Topeka Boulevard. He became a master craftsman of furniture repair and continued to do so until the time of his diagnosis. He also was an avid "boater" who thoroughly enjoyed building and racing RC boats, winning regularly and bringing a national championship to the Topeka Boat Club. Paul was a World War II veteran. At the age of 14 while attending church in Norristown, Pa., Paul had a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. It was his faith that directed him in all of his relationships and work. Because of his life and testimony, others have come to faith. Many also have benefited from Pauls teaching, counsel and leadership in churches where he has served. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Mr. Clemmer will lie in state at the funeral chapel after noon Wednesday, Aug. 27, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorials be given to the Midland Hospice, 200 S.W. Frazier, Topeka, 66606; or to Topeka Bible Church, Building Fund, 1101 S.W. Mulvane, Topeka, 66604.
I also have a relative in West Laurel Hill Cemetery and if someone is visiting there, maybe they could do a two-for. Thanks to anyone who volunteers. Sue Ambler Tucson, AZ [email protected]
Hello List, I really need a favor from someone on this list who visits West Laurel Hill Cemetery. I have written to them and they did send me the names of the family members who are burried in the family plot there but half of the dates are not recorded. I have the plot number and there are only nine graves. I think the birth and death dates are on the headstones. I figure it can't hurt to ask a favor of someone who is going there anyway to write the names and dates down and email them to me. Hoping to hear from someone, Margo [email protected]
When I sent for records from West Laurel Hill Cemetery I got one not connected with my family. The Names are: 1. William Allison Jr. 2. Hannah Wood 3. Margaret Wood Allison 4. Henry Wood 5. Anna Allison Wood 3/9/36 5. Mary Allison 7/8/43 Any one who would like this record please email and I will send. Margo
Valerie: I have Abington Presbyterian Church Records book from 1714-1864. There are some RENOLDS/REYNOLDS listed but no John. However I did find a marriage for a Hester FOSTER who married 5/23/1794 to Robert Davidson. Other FOSTERs listed are Rebekah, Thomas, Pamela, Mary, Julian, Franck, and John. Do any of these people seem to belong to your group? There was a Joseph REYNOLDS to married Hannah TOLAND 9/1/1796. Other REYNOLDS listed are Agnes, Robert, Sarah and Joseph. Also early spellings of the surname was RENOLDS - Robert, Hannah, Elisabeth. Also BARREL shows spellings BERREL, BERRELL, BERRIL, BERRILL in this church book. There is a Hester BERRIL who married Nicholas LARZALERE on 3/26/1823. Not to confuse, I guess there were more than one with your names! Just thought I'd show what is in the Abington Presby Church book! Hello... I posted this years ago, but maybe someone can shed some light on my elusive ancestor, Jacob Larkin....This has been *bugging* me for year. This is what I know about him: He was born between 1800-1810, according to the 1830 census for Marlborogh Twp. He died in Sumneytown in a mill accident on 2 June 1835. According to his daughter, Sarah's death certificate Jacob's wife's last name was Krause. He is listed as serving in the War of 1812 in the Montgomery Co. History by Bean (Private, 52nd Regiment, 3rd Co, First brigade, 2nd Division -Captain John Wentz). I have checked as many sources as I can and I can't seem to find out where he is buried, his parents names or even where he was from prior to marriage. I've gone through most of the Schwenkfelder records and can't connect his wife to him in any way. It seems as if he just dropped out of the sky. I do know that his daughter, Sarah, born 20 March 1832, was the wife of John Fitzgerald. I have loads of information about this family, but nothing about Sarah prior to marriage. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Or even better yet, has anyone researched this family? I appreciate any help you can give me. Trying to trace the descendants of Michael Friess and Catharine Nied as well as the Nied line.. Believe they were likely in Montgomery County because that's where Michael and Catharina's children were born and/or baptised... According to records of the New Hanover Lutheran Church, the children were Maria Catharina, Elizabeth, Hanna, eva and Johann George. Michael and Catharina were married in the Augustus Lutheran Church in Trappe, Montgomery County on October 28, 1760. Can anyone help with the children's marriages or their descendants? Thanks in advance .... Ray Friess
I've "rescued" a group of photographs belonging to the STOWE, BODIE, HALLWELL, and READING Families of Pennsylvania. The first photograph is one of Mary STOWE BODIE taken at the Horning Studio in Philadelphia, PA. Written on the back of the photograph is "My own Dear Mother, died Jan 19 1908" "Daughter Mattie". The photograph was probably taken in the 1880's with Mary appearing to be in her 50's at the time. The second photograph is one of "Mother HALLWELL" taken at the Saiber & Haeberle Studio in Philadelphia, PA. The note on the back of this photograph is "Mother HALLWELL and her beloved son Peter L. HALLWELL, God Bless them all, they were good to me" "Mattie READING HALLWELL, March 1942". This photo was likely taken in the 1890's with the subject appearing to be in her 50's or 60's at the time. The third photo is one of "Himie" taken at the Grier Studio in Philadelphia, PA when he was just 6 years of age. The note on the back says "My beloved little Himie age 6 years" "Mother". This photo was also probably taken in the 1880's sometime. The handwritten notations on the back of the photographs appears to have been made by the same hand. I'm assuming that Mattie referenced on the backs of both photographs is the same person, though I'm not sure of her surnames. Was she BODIE at birth, then READING by marriage, and then HALLWELL after a second marriage? With limited research I find Mary BODIE with a daughter Mattie L. BODIE b. 1860 living in Whitpain, PA during the 1880 census. Mary's husband was William A. BODIE and had a second daughter Lizzie W. BODIE age 17 at the time of the census. I'm guessing that this is the correct BODIE family. The HALLWELL name is a bit difficult to read on the back of the photographs, however, I can't seem to come up with a better option so I'm assuming that HALLWELL is correct. I'm hoping to find someone from this family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
