Does anyone know anything about them? Sure - Upper, Lower, and Middle Smithfield are the townships with boundaries on the Delaware River. Middle Smithfield is still called that today, I believe we call Upper Smithfield just Smithfield now. And Lower Smithfield is the Minisink Hills/Delaware Water Gap area. Fort Penn was in Stroudsburg Borough, the original Jacob Stroud house. Pensyl Creek if I remember is out in Neola, there's a Pensyl Creek Road that goes from Neola to Snydersville alond the creek. 3. Thanks so much Geoff! Was Fort Penn close to Lower Smithfield? I am also looking for marriage, birth and death records from this area in the period from 1749 to 1770 which was prior to the family's move into the hornet's nest of what was the Wyoming Valley. Where would I find church records or tax lists?
