    3. Geri, my sister married a Houck from Plainfield Township, Northampton County. As I was doing research of her husbands family I found records tying the name Hawk, Hauck and Houck soon after the Rev. War. I wanted to point this out as another event of the past that created BRICK WALLS for descendants researching the Hawk name. Reasons are still not clear if it was the census takers, family feuds or what ever else the reasons of the past. Gordon A. Koerner ----- Original Message ----- From: geri brennan To: paberks@rootsweb.com ; panortha@rootsweb.com ; pamonroe@rootsweb.com ; pacarbon@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2008 11:26 AM Subject: Re: [PAMONROE] [PABERKS] [PANORTHA] These are my "Brick wall" ancestors with these names! lehigh co. hawk family near kresgeville, monroe co., lived conrad hawk, a pioneer of this family. he died about the year 1860. margaret fisher, his wf. died after the civil war past 80 years of age. the parents of conrad hawk came from wurtemberg in germany and settled in monroe co. children of conrad and margart, joseph, lived at kunkeltown, john, lived at wilkes-barre, george of monroe co., conrad,who is feeble minded and michael. michael hawk, s/o conrad was born april 11, 1806. he lost his life in carbon co, while cutting down a tree on nov 15, 1850, age 44, he is buried at kresgeville. his wife catharine serfas is buried at union cem. at allentown. she was the d/o joseph serfass. he and the family were members of the evangelical ch. their children; samuel, nathan, matilda w/o w.h. diefenderfer, theresa, w/o david schoudt, jacob, linford, died at weissport, cecelia, widow of reuben schmale, lived at allentown, william of wilkes-barre, hannah married henry smith, mrs. james diehl, sara died single at allentown, edwin died a young man at weatherly, samuel hawk, oldest son of michael, was born in monroe co., july 16, 1829, he located at carbon co, he came to allentown in 1870 but in 1871 he moved to bucks co. he moved back to allentown in 1884. he died dec. 30, 1901 age 73. children; henry e. died at easton, freeman, josepyh h., cassilia married james e. hixson, pearson died a baby, and clinton. freeman hawk of allentown, was born at albrightsville, carbon co, feb 19, 1853 joseph h. hawk, 3rd son of samuel and elisabeth (serfass) hawk, was born oct 27,1856 at albrightsville, carbon co. joseph married 1888 to mary a. riegel, d/o thomas and sarah (lutz) riegel. children; elsie w/o fred horn, florence, myra, w/o morris kemmerer and warren l. mr. hawk and family are members of trinity u.e. church of allentown.
