(born in polk twp), he married lucinda andrew, d/o jacob and elisabeth (youngkin) andrew, of monroe co. children; lucinda, charles and maria, w/o j.k. shaffer. the father of these died at age 36, the mother at 72. to joseph w. and lucinda kresge were born, william a. (subject), anna m., w/o william serfass of chestnut hill, elisabeth w/o joseph smail of chestnut hill, nathan, hannah, w/o john mason of dallas, charles, married mary frabel, amanda w/o charles serfass of scranton, franklin married nettie frabel, catharine, w/o tilman gower of ross twp., and emma v. w/o david machas of n.j. the father died dec. 21, 1897, aged 79y 11m, 12d, the mother on nov. 21, 1886 age 69. they are buried in brodheadsville ( now buena vista) cem. members of the ref. and luth. ch. william a. kresge, married oct 15, 1872, at brodheadsville to mary a. christman. children; cora a., w/o george s. brown, cleark at weissport, pa, eugene m., morris c. and mary c. mrs. mary a. kresge was born aug. 12, 1847, in kunkletow, d/o thomas and mary (smail) christman, children; david of eldred, aaron in dallas, mary a. w/o subject, sarah, lucinda married peter hinene of eldred, edwin of lehighton, emma,sarah, abraham of lehighton and elizabeth, w/o theodore smith. the father died oct 13, 1892, the mother, sept, 1888, they are buried at kunkletown. john and mary (andrews) christman, paternal grandparent of mrs. mary a. kresge, were married in eldred. children; thomas, father of mrs. kresge, elisabeth, w/o john boyer, kate a., w/o william hauck. william and barbara serfass, maternal grandparents of mrs. kresge were from eldred. children; mary (mrs. kresge), george married kate greenswike, elisabeth, w/o anthony frantz, william married barbara serfass, john married effie everett, ameilia, wf of melvin christman, susanna, w/o henry hauck, and reuben married a miss hauck.
