It sure does beat housework!!!!! I'd have to agree with you there! Not sure if I shared how I found out that I was a descendant of the REX family or not.... it was totally by surprise. We have Belgian Draft Horses and we used to go to Schaefferstown - to the Alexander Schaeffer homestead - for their Harvest Festival & Plowing Match & Horse Pull. During one of our ventures there, quite a number of years ago, I toured the house and seen that a fellow by the name of Bob Bucher, had a genealogy of Georg REX (aka Reuger or what ever the various spelling) laying on the table along side other interesting historical papers on the area and Schaefferstown. He had mainly copied the multiple pages to show that one of the daughters or granddaughters had married into the Alexander Schaeffer family. I had asked if I could get him to make copies of these papers for me and I would gladly pay for the copying and postage, etc.. He agreed and about a month went by and the papers arrived in the mail. I read over them and put them in my HELLER File because my father's Heller great-aunts married a Rex and I had got the copies to show my dad who was going to take the papers to show one of the descendants of that family. I then put them away for a few years until one day I learned that I was descended from the ORNER (aka ARNER) family. I then pulled the papers back out and started to do a little more research and found that I (myself) traced back to the REXs twice! This was after my father had passed away... I would have loved to been able to share this info with him personally... he would have laughed at the whole ordeal. So THANK YOU again for posting the information to the county lists.... I'm subscribed to quite a few that you post to! ... and NO, I don't mind getting duplicate postings! On the HELLER side, I can't get them out of Adams Co., PA.! A fellow in Biglerville, quite a while ago told my father that he had heard that the HELLERs in Adams Co. are "from" the Hellers of Hellerstown.... I've tried for years to attach my "folks" to those Hellers, but nothing as of yet.
