I use the Easton Public Library to look-up obits published in the Easton Express. This newspaper is presently indexed for obituaries that appeared in the newspaper from 1911 to the present. For Monroe County obituaries one needs to search the Jeffersonian or the Democrat. Copies of both newspapers are available for viewing at the Monroe County Historical Association or East Stroudsburg University. Lacking an exact date of death makes searching for an obituary a daunting task. We're looking at a potential span of 20 years in which to locate Anna M. GRUBER's obituary. A cautionary word; obits from this period and locale were most times very brief and only mentioned the decedent's name, age, what they died from, date of death and maybe a spouse's name. I looked at cemetery records for the GRUBER name. I did locate Peter GRUBER interred at St. Paul's/Jones Cemetery in Paradise Township. Peter was born on January 13, 1833 and died January 31 1912. Nearby in the same cemetery is Stella M. QUICK GRUBER who was born November 20, 1859 and died October 28, 1888. Also identified at this same cemetery is Elizabeth GRUBER wife of Simon and Peter's mother. Elizabeth was born in 1804 and died in 1872. Apparently information about Elizabeth came from a local undertaker's burial records but a gravestone was not located at this cemetery. This is about all I can offer you at this time. I hope it is of some help to you. Ben Kimminour Bethlehem and Bushkill, PA Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
