He was born March 25, 1827, son of Harmon and Elizabeth (Smith) Arnold. Harmon Arnold was born in N. Lebanon, a son of Herman Arnold, one of the pioneers of Lebanon county. Elizabeth (Smith) Arnold was born in Berks County, near Bernville, now know as Mt. Pleasant. After their marriage Harmon and Elizabeth settled in S. Lebanon.
