Still Monroe County Detrick Aaron Detrick, subject, resident of Stroud township. Mr. Detrick belongs to a well know pioner family, his grandparents, Elias and Effie Ann Detrick, both native of Northampton county, settling soon after marriage, in Middle Smithfield township. This Elias Detrick his death occurred in 1859. His estimable wife survived him, and her last years were spent in the new home, purchased by herself. They had the following children; John, Daniel, Joseph, Erastus, Jesse, Willliam, Elias, Catherine, who married William Drake, Sallie A., who married John Chambers, Besty, married Levi Huffman, of Middle Smithfield, Marie who married Josiah "Bertrone" of Portland, Northampton County. Joseph Detrick, was born 1809 in Northampton county. He married Mary Halderman, died in 1857. Children; 1. Sara A., who married Rudolphus Schoonover, and they had children (Emma and Harry). 2. Elijah born 1840, married Annie "Stroth". children (Laura and Lydia), Catharine, born 1842, married Alfred Miller of Middle Smithfield, children (Harry, Chester, Amzie, Lorenzo and Florence) 5. Mary, born 1844, married Albert Marsh, of East Stroudsburg and had (Alice). 6 Elner, born 1846, married James Overfield, and had (Frank, died age 6, Stella and Laura). 7. Amzie, born 1848, married Jane Bush of Stroud township, 8.Susan, 9. Harriet. 10. Albina, born 1852 married Henry Van Why and had (Susie) Aaron Detrick, born Feb. 24, 1838, he married Susan Row, d/o Daniel of Price township. 4 of their 7 children survived, 1. Amanda died at age 6. 2, Frank, died at 2., 3. Clara who died at 20. 4. Bertha who married George "Bentzman", 5. Sherman, born in 1876 at Stroud Township. 6. Porter, 7. Flora. Detrick, Moses, subject, of Milford. Pike County Grandparents, John and Elizabeth (Kurtz) Detrick, moved from Northampton in 1821. Father, Samuel, born near Centerville, Northampton county in 1813, moved to Pike county. He died May 14, 1876, his wife, Catharine Albert, a native of Monroe County, died Oct 1, 1888. Children; John of Milford, Barbara who died as a baby, Moses, and "Colvin, of Brooklyn, NY Moses Detrick, was born April 15, 1840, in Middle Smithfield township, Monroe County. On Nov. 15, 1863, he married at Milford, Pike County to Adelle Burligh. Berks County History Great-great-grandfather, Adam Dietrich, was in born in 1740 and died in 1817. He married Maria Barbara Steinbruch (1741-1821), who like himself, had come from the Palatinate, Germany on the ship "Brittania", landed in Phila. Oct 26, 1767. They were the parents of , John Adam, 1765-1823, John George, 1767-1837, Maria Barbara, 1769-1846, Catharine, 1771-?. Johann Jacob, 1773-1857,Johann Michael, 1775-1862, Johann Heinrich, 1777-about 1857, Johannes, 1779-1830, a daughter, 1781, Johan Christian, 1783-1874, Maria Magdalena, 1785, and Anna Margareta, 1787-1838. Johann Chistian, son of Adam, he married Elizabeth George (1786-1846), their children; Benjamin, (1806-1877), Solomon, (1807-1874), Beckie who married Jacob Heinly, Jonathan, George, (1811-1887), Samuel, (1817-1893), Anna who married Daniel Spohn, Hettie, married John Moyer, Daniel, (1824-1898), Nathan, (1827-1880) Henry, (1832-1905) Lehigh County History The ship, Muscliffe Galley arrived in Phila., Dec 22, 1744, among the passengers, Elias Dietrick. Among the passengers on the ship Halifax, were Jacob, George Hans, and Johanna Dietrich Johann Dietrich is recorded as having emigrated to America, the ship Loyal Judith, arrived in Phila. Sept 3, 1739 Philip Dietrich is recorded as having emigrated to America in the ship, Neptune, arrived Sept. 30, 1754 Johannes Dietrich, son of Casper (1) came to America on the ship "Phoenix, which landed Sept 25, 1751. It appears he settled in Berks County. He married Barbara Braucher, of Albany township. He died in 1785, and his widow, Barbara was appointed administratrix of his estate. The had 3 children, all sons, as follow, Johannes: Jacob, who is said to have settled in Schuykill County: and John Adam, One Johannes Dietrich, probably the son of Johannes, born Nov. 7, 1760, in Maiden Creek township, located in East Bufflalo township,Union County. John Adam Dietrich, son of Johannes, the emigrant, was born Nov. 23, 1784, in Greenwhich township, and died July 23, 1864. He married in 1803 to Susanna Arnold, born Feb 23, 1783 and died Oct 6, 1869 and both are buried at Lenhartsville Church. They had 14 children, Maria, Rebecca, Jacob, born June 27, 1807, Elizabeth, Annie, Gideon, born 1814, Adam, 1815, Moses, 1817, Rufena, Catharine, and Reuben, born 1823, he married Catharine Kunkle, born in 1834. Detrick, Ambrose, subject, of Susquehanna County. He was born Feb. 12, 1847, in Middle Smithfield township, Monroe County, the son of Daniel and Catharine (McCormick) John Detrick, grandfather, of Warren County, NJ, came to PA, he went to Wyoming County. His son, Daniel, was born in Monroe County, and married Catharine McCormick, children, James who died in the Civil war, Mary Ann, who married Abram Billing of Wyoming county, Lucinda, who married W. L. Kinny, Jerome, Ambrose, Alvin, Elizabeth, wife A.G. Thayer, Cornella and Cordella, twins who were drowned in the creek flood at age 4, and Flora Angelia, who died at age 20. Detrick, William H., subjcet, of Price township, born in Pocono township in Jan, 1840. George Detrick, his father, was born in Germany, 1815. Lived at Tannersville, Monroe County, he married Barbara "Prong". Children; Hannah, born 1844 in Pocono township, married Joseph Evans and they had a daughter, Effie who married Abram Smith of E. Stroudsburg; Edward; George, both reacher manhoold, but the former was killed on the railroad and the latter died young. William H. married Hanna Bush, d/o Benjamin and Sarah Bush of Monroe County. Children; Emma, married Hayden Row; Alice, married William Vanluveder: Charles; Howard, married Vanluveder; Sally married William lesoine: Annie married P. B.
