Montgomery County Lefferts I. Lefferts Pieterson, a native of the village of Haughwort, located one and a half hours north of Hoorne, in the province of North Hollan, emigrated in 1660. With him, came a congregation of about two hunderd souls, of whom forty were members of the church of the Reformed religion. Lefferts settled in Midwout, or what is now Flatbush, Long Island, NY., where he died Dec. 8, 1704. His wife was Abigail, daughter of Auk Jans Van Nuyse. They had 13 children, and she died at age 99. Of the children, six were sons, and seven daughters. The aggregate age of five sons was four hundred and ninty-six years. One of the brothers married at the good old age of one hundred years, and lived six years after, in good health II. The third child of Lefferts and Abigail was Pieter Lefferts, from whence sprang the Leffets family of Moreland township. Pieter was born May 18, 1680, Flatbush, NY, and died March 13,1774. He married Ida, d/o Hendrick Suydam of Flatbush. She died Sept. 25, 1777 III. The next in line was Lefferts Lefferts, whose date of birth is not recorded, but who died probably soon after Oct 3, 1773 (date of will), his wife was Antie, d/o Art Vanderbilt, of Flatbush. In 1739 he purchased land in Northampton township, Bucks County. Lefferts was the father of children; Peter; Ida; Art; Aares or Arthur, bp. in Bucks County, Dec. 11, 1742, Leffert, bp. Dec. 25. 1744, Jane, bp. Oct. 15. 1752, Abraham, bp. March 17, 1752, Cynthia or Sytie, bp July 18, 1756, Jacobus or James, bp. Aug. 24, 1760 IV. Abraham, next in line, was born Feb. 17, 1754, and died Jan. 8, 1819. About 1783 he married Alice Vanarsdale. Children, John, Alice, Simon, Abraham, James and Ann. V. John Lefferts, was born March 14, 1784. He married Dec. 23, 1804 to Helena, d/o Rev. Jonathan DuBois. He moved to Montgomery County in 1843. VI. Simon Lefferts, son of John, was born Sept. 28, 1818. He married Feb. 16, 1843 to Susanna D. States (sometimes written Staats or Staates). She was born Dec. 23, 1823. She was the d/o Abraham and Mary States. Her father Abraham States was born in 1791 and he died in 1854. His wife Mary, d/o Joseph and Mary Franklin. Susanna (States) Lefferts, was the granddaughter of James States of Bucks County, Jacob Rhodes was her maternal great-grandfather. Children of Simon and Susanna; (1) John, born May 21, 1844, he married Helen C. Rich, d/o Dr. Samuel and Helen C. Rich, and the had children, Walter and Helen Lefferts. (2) Mary Anna was married Dec. 28, 1876 to Henry L. Search, who was born Sept. 18, 1846 and their children are Susanna L., born Feb. 26, 1878, and Theodore C., born Oct 3, 1883 Best Wishes, Geri
