He married Belinda Westbrook, she was born Jan 1, 1785 and died Aug 26, 1841. Peter Westbrook Van Etten, was born in Sussex County, NJ, Feb. 14, 1814, He married Eliza Gumaer, who was born June 23, 1823, d/o Geradeus and Eunice (Patterson) Gumaer Geradeus was born in Orange County, NY, a son of Peter and Hannah (Van Inwiggen) Gumaer, and grandson of Peter and Elizabeth (Van Etten) Gumaer, of French birth. Eunice Patterson, was the daughter of Jremiah and Elizabeth Patterson. To Geradeus and Eunice were born; Jeremiah, Hannah who married Selah Gordon, of Oranges County, NY., Cornelius, married Sally Van Inwiggen, and died in Sussex County, NJ., Isaac, died as an infant, Sarah who married Elisha DePew, of Sussex County, NJ, Lydia who married Abrner Brundage of Lackawanna County, Jane married John Van "Gorder" and Eliza (the mother of George Elting Van Etten). Peter Van Etten (father of George Elting Van Etten) was a merchant in Sussex County, in 1844 he moved to Luzerne County, then moved to Lenox township, Susquehanna County. Members of M.E. Church. Johannes Van Etten, born in NJ and married 1750 at Napanoch, Ulster County, NJ., to Maria "Gonzoles", (records in the Dutch Reformed Church), he settled in PA., and during the Indian troubles won reknown as a fighter and a Captian of a volunteer company which died effective service about 1756. He also served in the Rev. By his first wife, Maria Gonzoles he had 11 children, Magdalena born 1751, Manuel,, born 1754, Rymerick born 1756, Johannes (John) Jr., born 1759, Elizabeth, born 1762, Anthonly or james, born 1763, Catharine born 1771 and Simon, born 1776. By his second wife, Rachael William, widow Samuel Decker, he had 4 children; Daniel born 1780, Cornelius, Solomon, born Feb 12, 1789, Dorothy married John Lattimore V. Cornelius Van Etten, was born in Delaware township, Pike County, Dec 8, 1782. He died 1869, he married Anna Smith, a native of Sussex County, NJ. They are buried in Milford. Children; Rachel, who married Philip McCarty, Solomon, married Miss Meatler, Amos, married Lydia Traw, Robert K., Catharine,, Margaret, married Benjamin Cole, Mary, Amanda who married Henry M. Courtright. VI. Robert K., married Sept 6, 1843 at Stroudsburg to Eliza Palmer, and they had 8 children; Emma who died age 12, Lydia A., married Frank Singermaster, of Washington, Iowa, Cornelius married Helen Gordon and lived in Stroudsburg (their children, Harrry, James and Frank), Mary married James Brown of Stroudsburg (their children, Robert), Hannah, John P., James P., Maggie, the wife of Frank kerr of NJ., (children, Carrie). Eliza (Palmer) Van Etten, was born July 21, 1821, in Ulster County, NY and died March 21, 1892. Her grandparents are Overdier and Catharine (Hallock) Palmer were residents of NY City. John Palmer, her father moved to Stroudsburg in 1836, he married Mary A. Baker, who died in Stroudsburg, 1869, aged 72, was born in London, England, a d/o William A., and Mary A. (Fitchner) Baker, both native of the country. Mrs. Van Etten was the eldest of a large family, the others being; Mary A., who married Augustus Cramer, William who married Libbie Phipps, lived in Stroudsburg, James of Stroudsburg, married Harriet Shafer, Catharine who married James Michel,, of Bryan, Ohio, Sydenham W., who married Francis Green, lived in Stroudsburg, "Phoebee, a successful physician at Stroudsburg, married George Hagenbaugh", Anna the wife of Jacob Miller, of Stroudsburg, John married Susanna Williams, Jennie, wife of Samuel Brown of Williamsport.
