Coincidentally, I am off today to Carbon County Archives to look for this same family AKA Mertz. Hope to find a will for John P. or wife Theresa naming sons. I too am stuck with Charles Mertz b. 1820 married Elizabeth Hontz. Dotters corner is almost on the Carbon Line. I lived there for 8 years. That was before I started this genealogy, :) Courthouses are open today, I called on Tuesday to verify. Also should check deeds. Also looking for the William and Catherine Schoch family in Ross or Eldred Twp. Son was James L.Schoch married to Susanna Correll. James b. 1843.
