My grandfather, Clark Lawrence Borton (~1871-1943), owned the Hemlock Grove Manor in Sciota, Pa(near Stroudsburg, Monroe,Pa) with his second wife, Estella-it burned down about 1929 or 1930 in December under "mysterious circumstances". Clark read about the fire while in Florida in the Phila. Evening Bulletin. Has anyone ever heard of the manor? it's location? where the news article might be? Any information would be appreciated. The Monroe County Historical Association has an archive of old local newspapers. They may have the newspaper that has the article about the event. They have a website with the phone number. I know they are open Sundays during the summer. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cheryl R" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, July 12, 2003 4:55 PM Subject: [PAMONROE] Hemlock Grove Manor > My grandfather, Clark Lawrence Borton (~1871-1943), owned the Hemlock Grove Manor in Sciota, Pa(near Stroudsburg, Monroe,Pa) with his second wife, Estella-it burned down about 1929 or 1930 in December under "mysterious circumstances".
