On a field trip this year to Monroe County, I took pictures of several of the older stones in Hamilton Union Cemetery. One of these pictures was from Johannes Schneider and the other for Johann Peter Conrad (I think) - maybe the father of Louisa? I put the pictures on the Rootsweb server. Feel free to save them to your hard drive. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~dehoff/johannes_schneider.JPG http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~dehoff/johann_peter_conrad.JPG I am curious about the Schneider family. David and Philipina Strauss arrived in Philadelphia in Sept 1765. They were from the Westerwald region and lived in Zeppenfeld from 1761 - 1765, possibly longer. On the Snow Betsey were Johann Philip Schneider, Johann Adam Schneider, Johann Georg Schneider and Peter Schneider. Among the connected families in Germany were Schneider and Diehl. We have been searching the parish records for Neunkirchen, Siegen and Burbach for information on these families. Johannes Schneider and Louisa were sponsors for David's grandson, Johannes Strauss in May 1803, son of Johannes and Magdalena Strauss. Johannes and Louisa Schneider were also sponsors for David's granddaughter, Sara, daughter of Conrad and Anna Maria Wetzel in November 1800. These baptisms were at Hamilton Union. David and Philipina are buried in Storm Cemetery, close to Snydersville in Monroe County. I would be interested in exchanging information on the Schneider family.
