History of Wayne, Pike and Monroe Counties George Michaels, settled in Northampton County, later purchasing three farms in Middle Smithfield,located with his three sons, Peter, George, and John. John married a Miss Snable of Northampton County and children; George and John and 8 daughters, George, married John M. Overfield. Joseph Gonsaules,who was of Spanish birth, first settled at Bushkill. One of his sons, Emanuel by names married a Miss Utt whose children were; Samuel, Margaret and Emanuel. The last named removed to the to the township and located on the farm owned by his son, Emanuel H. He married Sarah, the d/o William Cortright, of the same township, his children being, James Samuel, Elizabeth, Anna, Margaret, Mary, Susan, Emanuel H., William and Sarah. Three of these-William, Emanuel H. and Susan, the wife of Martin Overfield-still living in Middle Smithfield. James Place, formerly a resident of Esopu, NY. He married to Phebe Winans, children; Jaccob, William, Rebecca, Rosanna, James, John, Mary, Eleanor, Isaac, and George. Jacob, whose birth occured in 1786, he married Mary Overfield, and their children were; Eliza, William, Sarah, Rebecca, Matin, James and Mary Anne.. John Place, brother of Jacob, married Martha Bunnell. Martin, son of Jacob, married Mary Overfield and had 8 children. Paul Overfield, first settled in NJ. He had children, William, Martin, Paul, Benjamin and two daughters, Mary and Sarah. Martin married Elizabeth Utt of the sametownship and had children; William, Paul,k Adam, Mary, Sarah and Samuel. Of these, Sarah married John Moiser, Adam married Mary Harman. John Piper, formerly of Northampton County, children; Samuel, Jacob, John, Sarah, married ____Smith, Elizabeth who married ___Place, and Loretta who married ____Walton. Melchior Depue, came from Warren County, NJ. He married Eliza Gonsaules, and had children, Ency who married John Turn, Sarah, who married,Dimmock Overfield, Samuel, Moses, Elizabeth, William, Henry and Philip. Best Wishes, Geri
