Rhoads, George H., MD, of Tobyhanna Mills, Monroe County, was born in Huntingdon, Montgomery County, in 1857, a s/o Issachar Rhoads Sr. Ann (Hobensack) Rhoads, an old settler of Montgomery Co, who died there in 1827. Children; Elizabeth who married Abraham Castle of Montgomery County and resided at Harleysville, John who married and located in Montgomery county, Samuel of Montgomery county. Issacher Rhoads Jr. he resided in Virginia and in 1870 he moved to Phila, made his home there, died in 1892. The mother died in 1861. He married 2nd to Harriet Waterman of Hartford County, MD and they had two children; Victor who married and located in Phila, and Annie who married and located in Frankford, PA. The first union there were two sons, George H., and John. George H. was married to Frances Case, d/o Isaac and Harriet Case, of Monroe county. Children; Alfred born 1886 Cornella, born 1888, Frances, born 1892, George S. born 1897 Rhodes, Oreon Staples, MD of East Stroudsburgh, Monroe County, The first of the name who came from Germany prio to the Rev. and settled in PA. The record of early generations are unfortunately are very meger and although the great-great-great-grandfather of our subject was killed in the battle of Brandywinw, his name is not known. Jacob Rhodes, son of this worthy patriot who born and reared near Bethlehem, PA, he married and had several children; Adam Rhodes, 2nd son of Jacob, was born near Bethlehem, he married Catharine Beasecker, Later moved to Hamilton township. Monroe county (then Northampton). His death occurred in 1846 at the home of his son, Jacob in Stroud township and his wife died in 1864. Children; Adam, Nancy, Abraham, John, Leah, Thomas W., Rachel, Jacob, Eliza. Thomas W., grandfather to Oreon, was born Aug 10, 1811 in Hamilton township. On Jan 14, 1836 , he married Mary Heller, who was born March 5, 1818, d/o Solomon and Mary (Benninger) Heller. She died Jan 4, 11853, he married 2nd to Catharine Keller, July 5, 1853, she was born Dec 24, 1822, d/o Peter and Elizabeth (Heller) Keller and a granddaughter of Joseph and Mary (Andrews) Keller. By the first marriage, Sydenham H., Merion W., Ellen A., Edward H., George H., Martha, and Johnson. By the second marriage, Steward T., Erwin J., Mary M., Jennie L., Anna C., Mildred. Charles L. was born May 23, 1839 in Cherry Valley, Monroe county. He married Mary Staples and they had 2 children, Oreon Staples and Clare, the wife of W. B. Eilenberger. Oreon S. was born in Stroudsburg, Jan 31, 1863, he moved to Harrisburg, PA., he married in 1887 to Ellen Kings. Best Wishes, Geri
