John Decker, of Preston, Wayne County. He was born July 17, 1842 in Luzerne County, and was bought to Wayne Co., by his parents, Samuel and Margaret (Shafer) Decker, natives of NY State. Decker, Robert T., of Gouldsboro, Wayne County, was born Oct 24, 1846, three-quarters of a mile from Stroudsburg, Monroe County, s/o Dephew and Eleamora (Bidelman) Decker. His father was a millwright, he died Dec 1891, aged 75, his mother in 1887 aged 65. In there family were children; John W., married Catharine "Storner, and lived in Stroud township; Ann E, married Lewis Treet; Sarah F., who married Joseph Ruth, of Delaware Water Gap; Martha J. married 1st Emanuel Heller and 2nd to George Frutchey of Scranton; Robert B.: Charles W.: Simon who married Laura Keller of Stroud township; Lewis who married Cynthia Cartwright and lived in E. Stroudsburg; Jacob never married; Emma the wife of Anneis Leap; Horace married Bell Keller. Robert T., paternal grandparent were James and Sarah Janes Decker, natives of PA., Their children were as follows; John, married ___,; Rachel married John Armethig; Dephew, father of Robert T.; Susan, married Peter Newhart; Charles, married Mrs. Croop; Morris married Lida Heller, Benjamin was killed from falling from a tree, and Anna, wife of Aulice Gordon. Robert T., married July 6, 1867, at Coolbaugh, Monroe county, by Rev. Van Allen a Presbyterian minister to Susan C. Hanna, who was born in Middle Smithfield, Jan 8, 1848 a d/o David and Margaret (Arnst) Hanna of that place, the father died in 1869 aged 64, the mother died Jan 1897 aged 74 years, and was laid side by side in Coolbaugh cemetery. Children, John, who married Pernina Smith, Jane, the wife of William H. Vanwhy of E. Stroudsburg, Caroline the wife of Alfred Smiley of Wilkes Barre, Emely died unmarried, Phelie, married Charles Smith, William married Annie Green, they lived in NY State, Susan, the wife of Robert T. Decker. Van Gordon (Decker), (Mrs) Hannah is the great-granddaughter, of Daniel Decker who ran the old Decker ferry which crossed the Delware below the Bushkill. His son, John Decker who was born April 24, 1780 nd died March 10, 1827 a farmer of Wallpack, Sussex County, NJ where he spent his entire life. His wife, Maria (Brokaw) Decker, was born July 31, 1787, died July 31, 1823, both are buried at Wallpack. Peter Decker, father of Mrs. Van Gordon, was born in Wallpack, Sussex, NJ., Sept 18, 1806, where he grew to manhood, married and remained there till 1838, in which year he moved to Pike County till 1867 when he went to Middle Smith township, Monroe County. Peter Decker, married to Margerei Smith, who was born July 8, 1810, d/o William and Mary (Decker) Smith, farming people of Wallpack, NJ. The mother died there, the father in Montrose, PA. Children; Mary, 1830, married Shay Dephew; Salache, 1832 lived with her sister; Angeline, 1834, married Oliver Place; William S., 1836; John, 1839, married Margaret Pipher; Hannah L., 1846; "Bedinda, 1844 married Joseph Benley of Lehman township; Malvine,born 1846 marriedied John Overfied ; George, 1849; married Mary Shoemaker of E. Stroudsburg. Decker, John S., of Hawley, Wayne County, was born April 28, 1839 in Sussex county, NJ., s/o Abraham and Elizabeth (Struble) Decker, who were also natives of that county, the father was born in 1809 Daniel Decker, great-grandfather of John S., was born in NY State. He was a man of means, he also owned slaves. John S. Decker has a copy of his will, in which he bequeathes his most valuable slave, Diana, to his son John. The last named was born in Sussex County, His son Abraham was twice married, his first wife being Elizabeth Struble, d/o John Struble, of Sussex county, and by her he had 5 children; Julia, the wife of L.L. Hawks, Alfred, John, Evaline who died in 1873, the wife of Theodore Winans, they lived in Sussex county and Theodore of Hornellisville, NY The mother died July 27, 1847 and he married 2nd to Jane Schoonover and had two children, William and James. John S., married Nov 8, 1865 in Centerville, NJ to Marth Carmer, who was born in Sussex county, April 17, 1842. They had 3 children; Seely, Emma J., and Victor A., of whom the two eldest died when six months old. Victor A., married Minnie B. Kimble, and they had 3 children, Irene E., Florence L., and Helen M. Martha (Carmer) Decker, is the d/o Abraham B. and Elizabeth (Steele) Carmer who were respectively born in NJ and PA, and were married in Sussex County, Mr. Carmer engaged in farning, they were the parents 6 children, Martha, married John S. Decker, Sarah J., who married Joshua Shay of Sussex County, Phoebe C., Anna Eliza, Isaac H.. The father died Jan 27, 1886 aged 66, the mother, April 13, 1886 aged 68. He was the son of Isaac Carmer and Hannah Shay, his first wife, who lived and died in NJ, his second wife was Mary Clark, of the same state. Mrs. Carmer's father was Isaac Steele of PA. Decker, George, of Analomink, Monroe County,, was born Sept 9, 1855 in Pike County and comes from excellent ancestry, being a direct decendant of Henry Decker, who was born probably in New York, he came to PA in an early day, setteling in Pike (now Monroe) County. He married Maria Vanetten, and they had children; Simon, Barent, Ann, Maria, Madison, James, Wilson, William, and Catharine. Barnet Decker, grandfather, was born in Pike (now Monroe) county, and he died in Middlesmithfield township. He married Elizabeth Gunsaulus, and they were parents to, Samuel, married Sarah Depuy who was born May 18, 1826 in NJ and died Jan 1, 1898, member of the Presbyterian Church; Calvin, (father of Barnet ), married 1st to Rosanna Frutchey and had ( Francis, Luther, George B., William, John,, and Fannie), 2nd to Susie Walter and they had (Flora, Ella, Lillie, Anna, Frank and Lizzie), Charles W,, Margaret, Rhyma, Daniel, Jackson, Susan, Nellie and Sarah. George B. Decker, married 1878 to Ida Price, who was born at Analomick, Sept 8, 1857, d/o W. J. and Delih (LeBar) Price, the former of whom died July 28, 1899. Best Wishes, Geri
