    3. Chester County History Michael Gunkle, East Whiteland township (came from Phila.). Catharine (Miller) Gunkle's paternal grandmother was a Miss Pechn, a Huguenot who fled from France, married Martin Miller of Germany. Michael Gunkle left four sons, John, Michael, William and Daniel. The Gunkle family is of German extraction, and Michael had two brothers who settled in Ohio, one of whom is descened from ex-Congressman, L. B. Gunkle of Dayton, Ohio. Daniel Gunkle, was married Oct 29, 1822 to Sarah Kugler, born July 15, 1803, d/o John and Harriet Kugler of Lower Merion, Montgomery Co., and a granddaughter of Paul Kugler, and great-granddaughter of a German emigrant who settled in Eastern PA. To Daniel and Sarah were born 9 children; George W.,married Louisa Watson, Dr. William H., married Mary R. Ellmaker Harriet (died young), Eliza C., who married John Dunwoody, Michael M., Harriet A., married Dr. Frank Rieser of Berks County, John F., married Lizzie Davis,Victoria J., married Dr. John G.
