Stephen was born in Wilkes Barre, s/o Isaac and Sarah (Worden); his wife was born at Tuckers, Luzerne Co. Childern, Eliza who married Hiram Melleck, Julia the wife of Samuel Christ of Lock Haven, B. Franklin of Phila., Anne, wife of A.D.Neiman of Easton, Alexander S., subject, Ellen, who married 1st Andrew Bryan, and 2nd to John Lemoine, Sadie, who marrid ? and lived in Williamsport, Alice who married Hiram Mellick. Alexander S., subject, married Nov., 1865 to Emma V. Mervine, born at Easton, d/o Hon. John and Lydia (Shick) Mervine. Her great-grandfather was one of the first settlers of Monroe County, coming with two brothers and purchasing a large tract of land. His son, Peter Mervine was born in the present home of his granddaughter (Mrs. Gould), he married Susannah Denton, a native of Schoharie Co. Both died in Pocono Mt., Monroe Co. John Merwin, s/o Peter was born in 1806, he died in 1882, he married Lydia Shick, who died in 1893. Children, Lucinda, who married Stephen Danner, Franklin of FL., Sylvester of Phila., Sophia, unmarried, Anna who married Dr. George Seip, Olvier, of Chestnut Hill, Emma V., wife of Alexander S.
