Bucks County Stout, Mahlon H., attorney,subject< of Doylestown was born at Rockhill township, Bucks County, March 10, 1853 and he is the s /o Jacob and Amanda (Headman) Stout. The great-great-grandfather, Jacob Stout, at one time owned all the land where Perkasie borough now stands. The great-grandather, Abraham, and the grandfather, Jacob were farmer by trade. They are all buried at the family burying ground at Perkasie. Subject's father lived in Rockhill, he was the father of 3 children; Maria, Emma, and Mahlon H. Jacoby, John J., of New Britian, born in Doylestown on Jan 2, 1829, s/o John Sr., and Mary (Shiffler) Jacoby, natives of Bucks county. The father of John, was born in Durham township and moved to Doylestown about 1820. He died in his 81st year. He was the father of 9 children; Isaac, Susan who married Samuel Haldeman and John, a farmer in Doylestown, On March 2, 1852, John L., married Sarah, d/o Henry and Hester (Meredith) Clymer. Children; Henry F., Edwin, Carrie, Mary, Jennie. Jacoby, O.S,(subject) was born in Doyletown township, Dec, 1855, the s/o Peter and Lydia A. (Summers) Jacoby. In Dec. 1879 he married Laura Case and they had one child, Edith M. Erdman, Oliver H., (subject). The great-grandfather of our subject had 7 children. His 2nd son, Henry married Kate Seams, of Northampton county. This couple had 3 sons and 3 daughters, Henry E., being the youngest son. In 1848 he married Elizabeth, d/o isaac and Catharine (Apple) Shimer. They were the parents of 2 sons, Allen and Oliver H. Oliver H., in 1872 married Alavesta, d/o Charles and Elvinia (Donner) Kemmerer of Lehigh county. Oliver H., and Alavesta had, Quema and Viola. Members of St. Paul's German Church. Hicks, Isaac, of Newtown (Subject) was born in Hulmeville, this county, Jan 20, 1809. He was the son of Edward and Sarah (Worstall) Hicks. His 1st ancestor in Bucks county was his great-grandfather, Gilbert Hicks, a son of Col. Isaac Hicks of the English army. In 1746 he married Mary, a d/o Joseph Rodman, of Long Island, NY, and the same year he settled in Bensalem township. He was one of the early judges of Bucks countym and on account of reading Gen. Howe's proclamation during the Rev, though he was in sympathy with the American cause, he was driven from the county by the federals, and went to NY. After peace was declared he went to Nova Scotia where he was supposed to have been assassinated. He had severak children; Isaac, the eldest was born in Bensalem, April 21, 1748, he married his cousin, Catharine Hicks, d/o Edward Hicks, of NY City. The issue of this union was three children; Gilbert E., Eliza V., and Edward. He died Oct 6. 1836. Edward Hicks, the youngest son, was born in Attleboro, Bucks county, April 4, 1780, he married Sarah Worstall in 1803, and they had 5 children; Mary H., Susan W., Isaac W., Elizabeth T., and Sarah. He died in Newton, Aug. 23, 1849. Isaac Hicks, his thired child and only son, was reared in Newtown. He married in 1857 Hannah, d/o William and Hannah (Garrett) Penrose, of Horsham, PA, by whom he had 4 children; Sarah W., Edward, Tacie and William P. Penrose, Evan, subject, of Quakertown, was born in 1813 and in 1851 he married Anna, the d/o George and Anna (Penrose) Hicks. His ancestor, Robert son of Robert and Jane Penrose, was born in Yorkshire, England, moved to Ireland and in 1699 married Mary Russell and had 3 children. Best Wishes, Geri
