    3. hamilton square-saylorsburg. aka. christ ch. hamilton square union, fennersville union. this very old cemetery is located behind christ ch. at hamilton square on the road between sciota and bossardsville. from stroudsburg drive south on buiness route 209 to the village of sciots. turn left (heading east) on the rural road to bossardsville. at the stop sign at the T intersection, turn right. go about 7/10 of a mile to the church and cemetery which are on the left side of the road. the hamilton cemetery was probably the 1st organized burial ground in monroe co and several of the tombstones date back to the late 1700's. christ ch organized as early 1763. burial continued until just past the middle 1800''s when burials of the congregation members commenced at mt. zion cem. nearby. the cemetery is well maintained. many of the tombstone are too worn by age to be legible any longer and there are long gaps in the lines. of the stones indicating many burials without markers or graves on which stone have disappeard. the learn family, of pocono twp., massacred by the indians, are also buried here. His first wife is supposedly in the Hamilton Square cemetery and the second may also be there or in the Mt. Zion cemetery with him. Thank you.
