Does anyone know anything about them? Sure - Upper, Lower, and Middle Smithfield are the townships with boundaries on the Delaware River. Middle Smithfield is still called that today, I believe we call Upper Smithfield just Smithfield now. And Lower Smithfield is the Minisink Hills/Delaware Water Gap area. Fort Penn was in Stroudsburg Borough, the original Jacob Stroud house. Pensyl Creek if I remember is out in Neola, there's a Pensyl Creek Road that goes from Neola to Snydersville alond the creek. 3. I can't top the excellent advise given you by Geoff but I'll try to add a little. For a picture of the historical marker for Fort Penn go here: http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WMR1   Bear in mind that this area was part of Northampton County prior to the formation of Monroe in 1836. Have you checked the PAGenWeb sites? If not, here are the links for Monroe & Northampton: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pamonroe/ http://northampton.pa-roots.com/   Hope this helps Randy Brown --- On Fri, 4/10/09, Loretta Lisowski <lpl2429@gmail.com> wrote: From: Loretta Lisowski <lpl2429@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [PAMONROE] PENSYL - historic locations? 1. [PAMONROE] PENSYL - historic locations?
    2. Loretta Lisowski
    3. Hello, I am new to the list. I am researching my paternal line which is the PENSYL family. There are several locations mentioned in family stories that I am trying to pinpoint. After arriving from Germany in 1749, the family whose original name was Bentzel has been said to have settled in LOWER SMITHFIELD on the Delaware 20 miles north of Easton. There was also a mention of FORT PENN and in post Revolutionary War years, a PENSYL CREEK. I cannot locate any of these places. Does anyone know anything about them? Thank you. -- Loretta Pensyl Lisowski

    3. I got this today thought I would pass it on Dingman's Ferry-Delaware Township Historical Society is hosting Ghost Waters, a documentary by local filmmaker Nick Patrick The Ghost Waters film will be presented on Thursday April 16,2009 at the Delaware Township Municipal building-116 Wilson Hill Road, Dingman's Ferry, Pa. starting at 7pm. This film is a documentary in the making about historical events that took place during the Tock's Dam Era. This project forced many families from their homes and properties that had been in the family for generations. this land is now preserved and known as The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Nick's plan for the documentary, once finished, is for the education of students to both sides of this controversial issue. At this time, the film shows the properties on NJ side of the Delaware River, including Bevans, Peters Valley and Flatbrookville NJ. It is his desire to meet people and document the events that also happened in dingman's Ferry during the early 1960's The public is cordially invited. Please come and socialize with your friends and neighbors. Refreshment will be served. check out our ebay store http://www.2-kintners.com
