Author: k_purchase Surnames: Anderson; Fullerton; Hamler Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.monroe/1172.3.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This is to answer the various questions of previous posters: 1.) Yes, James and Jehila were born in New Jersey. 2.)Yes, they were living in Smithfield twp in 1900. 3.) I assume that they would be most likely to be buried in PA because Jehila's only son was buried in PA; in previous Census records they lived down the street from each other, and I know where most of Jehila's siblings (and her parents) are buried in New Jersey, and Jehila Anderson is not amongst them in their burial sites. 4.) Jehila's son Aaron died in 1918, and Jehila was still alive in 1900-- not that far apart to my way of thinking. Of course, if I can't find the Andersons in Monroe County, I will look for them in surname Hamler (Jehilah's maiden name)gravesites in Monroe County; then I will look for them in Warren and Sussex County, NJ where the Hamlers lived and tended to be buried in New Jersey. Only one other of Jehila's 9 siblings moved from New Jersey to Monroe Township (or any other township in PA) and that was her younger brother (James) Edward Hamler (d. 15 Feb 1911, East Stroudsburg, Monroe Co., PA). (Or 1905; it was difficult to read the Pension Record.) In the Census of 1880, (James) Edward Hamler was living in Portland Boro, Northumberland Co., PA. It just seemed that Jehila-- possibly because her first husband (Aaron's father) died young and she didn't remarry until she was in her forties- and Census records showed them living fairly close- that Jehila would be buried close to her son. I was surprised that I couldn't find her cemetery record in the same cemetery as Aaron's. Thanks very much for all the look-ups and direction I need to be taking... 3. Dear Joan, You can apply for DAR membership in any state or county. You can also be a member-at-large. I live in Maryland and my two sisters in PA are members of my chapter, even tho they cannot attend meetings. I am sorry you are getting the run-around from the chapter you are interested in. Is it the Jacob Stroud Chapter? There is the George Taylor Chapter in Easton, and the Liberty Bell Chapter in either Bethlehem or Allentown. If you need the name of a contact, I have a great gal who would help you in Bethlehem. If interested, please email me directly at xyz123mlub@baltworld.com. 2. Loretta Lisowski
    3. Hi, I am trying to confirm information on Maryann WERKHEISER born Jan. 5, 1815 and died 1889 and interred possibly at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hamilton Twp. in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. My family tree has the above individual marrying Jacob PENSYL (1807-1882) as his second wife and bearing nine children: Sallyanne, Maryanne, Edward, Jacob, Theodore, Franklin, Linford, Manda and Harvey (Harry). However, in searching the internet lately, this individual seems to have married a Jacob UHLER not Jacob Pensyl. We may have the wrong Maryanne listed in our family tree or Jacob PENSYL/PENSEL/PENCEL/PENCIL may have been her second husband. Can anyone shed light on this? Thanks so much, -- Loretta Pensyl Lisowski

Her tombstone is in the Analomink cemetery (6 Oct 1844-29 Jan 1904.) Thomas Arndt, b. January 1849 is in the same family. You can follow them easily in the census records for Stroud Township. The only complication is that in 1850 there is another Elizabeth Arndt enumerated with the Alexander Fowler family of about the same age. If you look up obituaries for everyone in the family, you may be able to sort them out. I don't have any info on Benjamin Franklin Arndt, but again, an obituary might help you. Eugene F.
