Coincidentally, I am off today to Carbon County Archives to look for this same family AKA Mertz. Hope to find a will for John P. or wife Theresa naming sons. I too am stuck with Charles Mertz b. 1820 married Elizabeth Hontz. Dotters corner is almost on the Carbon Line. I lived there for 8 years. That was before I started this genealogy, :) Courthouses are open today, I called on Tuesday to verify. Also should check deeds. Also looking for the William and Catherine Schoch family in Ross or Eldred Twp. Son was James L.Schoch married to Susanna Correll. James b. 1843. Can someone tell me how to get naturalization records for Monroe Co. I am interested in getting them for Dennis Creaghan who died in Mar 1869 ( my grt-grt grandfather) and John Creahan who died in Nov 1881 who I believe was his brother. Other than their tombstone info which I obtained at North & South Cemetery Route 196 Tobyhanna, PA, I can't get death certificates as state didn't record them before 1906. I also want to get a naturalization record for Thomas Hanifee (my grt-grandfather) who died betwwen 1900-06. 1900 census says he is naturalized & 1910 census has his wife as a widow. The state of PA had no death record for him between 1906-10. I could not locate a tombstone for him, although I was told he is buried in St Ann's Cemetery, Prospect St. Tobyhanna, PA Any ideas on getting death info too would be appreciated.
