After some research I found that in 1957 the Evangelical and Reformed Churches and the Congregational Christian Churches merged. If you want to know more you can find their WEB site at www.ucc.org. I hope this helps you all when doing church research. I know it has clarified some of my information. I didn't find out that my father was raised Reformed and not Lutheran until much much later in my research. Kay in Alabama Kay wrote: > Hi to Geri and all my 'cousins'! To the coordinators of these rootsweb pages. I lost your email addresses, could you remove this genealogy "Jacob Gangewere Descendants" from your sites. I made a mistake in the wife of Jacob Gangewere b.1677. I have him married to Maria Eva Schlosser who is the wife of his son Jacob b.1732/33. I believe Jacob b.1677 was married to Susannah Margareta but I have no proof at this time. When I get better documentation I will re-submit. For now please remove and remove what ever you can from the rootsweb main pages. Gordon Koerner in VA

I believe my brother attended a conference in Omaha, Nebraska during the 1950's (1957?) where the Congregational Church merged with a group of Reform churches and became the United Church of Christ (UCC). Hope this helps in your search. Will Gower ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Visit www.juno.com
I have some general question about vital records in Monroe County. Where is the repository for birth/death/marriage records? What year ranges are available? What is the cost per copy? I've checked around the PA web sites and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. What I need are birth records 1870-1885 & marriage records 1860's. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Hi to Geri and all my 'cousins'! I have someone in PA doing some church research and will post it later. What I do know about the "Reformed" church is this. Several years ago the church that we always knew in our neighborhood as the Reformed Church changed its name. It is now known as the 'United Church of Christ'. The church in Allentown that was once known as Grace Reformed is now Grace United Church of Christ. I'm looking into the date this change took place.
