    3. Hi, grandfather, Martin Pastouis, was an assessor of the Court of Erfurt. When Gustavus Adolphus captured the town the soldier were quartered in the house, which was upon the horse-market, and plundered it driving out the children with their drawn sword. The father rode to Mayence to make complaint, but again fell into the hand of the Swedish soldiers and was driven out naked and so badley beaten in a few weeks he died. He was married to Brigitta, a d/o Christian Flinsberger of Mulhause. Melchior Adam, son of Martin, was born Erfurt, then containing twenty thousand people, on the 21st of Sept 1624. He went to school in Erfurt, studied poetry and rhetoric there, and at Frankfort, Mayence, Aschaffenburg, Wurtzburg, and to Rome, where Aug 26, 1644, he entered college, and after 4 years was graduated Lit. Doctor. He married Magdalena, d/o Stephen Dietz and Margaretha Fischer, widow of Henrich Frischman. Francis Daniel Pastorius, son of Melchior and Magdalena, was born in Sommerhausen, Sept. 26, 1651. He had a brother, Johannes Samuel Pastorius. Their step- mother was Dorothea Esther Volckmans. On the 4th of May 1683 he sailed to Rotterdam, and on the 8th reached London, accompained by Tobias L. Kohlaus. Togethers with a little party of emigrants, Jacob Schumacher, George Wertmuller, Isaac Dilbeck and his wife" Marieke" and two boys, Abraham and Jacob. Thomas Casper, Conrad Bacher (alias Rutter) and and English maid, Frances Simpson, he on the 6th of June sailed from Gravesend, on the ship America, whose captain was Joseph Wasey, on the 7th rearched Deal, on the 10th left England, and on the 16h of Aug.,1683 reached the New World. 3. Probably the Blue Mountain mentioned is the Blue Mountain on the Map which runs from N Y to Va./Ky It joins the Appalachian Mt. at times and his difficult to really pinpoint. Most likely Monroe Co. is the area you are looking for, but depending on how long ago it could have been Northampton Co. Parts of the east side of MT is in Northampton then Lehigh Co. There is a geologist who is on one of these Rootsweb pages I hope he is on this one. 3. Geri and anyone researching ANDREAS / WASHBURN, I can dispute the statements linking the two WASHBURN sisters whom married the two ANDREAS brothers and the statement "They were granddaughters of John Rhoads". This was an assumption made by writer and researcher William Stauffer in a 1938 newspaper article on the Mayflower families in the Northeast PA region, printed in the Hazelton Times Leader. The assumption was made only pertaining to young brother Caleb, never for Caleb & Daniel's older sisters Thankful & Sarah WASHBURN. The assumption pertained to Caleb only because nobody could specify when Thankful, Sarah, Daniel, & Caleb's mother, Silence WASHBURN died and whether Silence actually ever migrated to PA with her husband Jesse WASHBURN (same surname), from Bridgewater, Mass. I believe everyone was looking for death dates so intensely that they were missing the words Daniel WASHBURN wrote in his personal accounting of the Wyoming Massacre, "father Jesse Washburn and my Brother Caleb my step mother with 2 small children". We can derive from this statement along with other facts not listed in this e-mail the following: 1] The step mother is the unknown & unproven second wife of Jesse WASHBURN, a daughter of John RHOADES/RHOADS. 2] Jesse & RHOADES daughter had two young children 3] We know Daniel was born in 1763, son of Jesse & Silence WASHBURN. (other facts) 4] We know Jesse immigrated to PA about 1760. (other facts) 5] We know Daniel was born in PA, not Massachusetts. 6] Daniel wrote brother Caleb and separated them from "my step mother with 2 small children". He doesn't even give the names of his step brothers. 7] Further in the sentence he gives the name "Mrs. Woodring the wife of Wm Woodring who was killed in the battle Mrs. had 5 children 4 sons and 1 daughter". Daniel seems to treat his Step mother & step siblings on the same level as Mrs. Woodring & children, almost non-related. 9] Thankful & Sarah WASHBURN were both born in Bridgewater, Mass., 1752 & 1760 respectively and mother was Silence WASHBURN, not the daughter of John RHOADES. Geri if possible, could you tell me the source? I know you just write from the sources and post wonderfully to the list. I'm guessing the two paragraphs originate from an ANDREAS Genealogy which I've seen previously. 3. I have been looking for a person I believe originally came from the Monroe County area ( before it was a county ) Her name was Jemima Vanorman. She married Caleb Robbins, he was born 1791 in NJ. and died in 1867. He is buried in Wyoming County Pa.where the family ended up after going through Luzerne Co. I think she was the one from the area. Everything is so close in the area it could be Northampton or even NJ. The only information I have is she died before 1850, I have her on her son James' death certificate as his mother, James was born in 1822 or 23. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated Thanks Cindy Russell

    3. I'm looking for anyone researching Richard Wister. I'm specifically looking for anyone who has references in deeds for land that was owned at one time by Richard Wister. What I'm hoping to get is patent book references to his Northampton County land--which is now present-day Monroe County. I'm not related to the Wisters and I have no information whatsoever on Richard Wister. Just looking for an easy way to get the tracts of Richard Wister in Monroe County for mapping. Thanks much. Marie.

    3. Hi all, I ran across the first obit and started digging. I found the second one in the Baltimore Sun. Does anyone know how or if John fits into the Stroudsburg Lee's? Thanks, Pam Lee, John T. John T. Lee Former Stroudsburg resident John T. Lee, 65, died recently at his Anne Arundel County, Md., home. He died of a heart attack while shoveling snow. Lee, a 1955 graduate of Stroudsburg High School, formerly worked at the Studebaker-Packard Garage in Stroudsburg. After a stint in the service he went to college and got a degree in accounting from the University of Maryland. Lee retired last summer as comptroller at Southern Insulation in Hyattsville, Md. Published in the Pocono Record on 2/25/2003. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John T. Lee, 65, accountant, popular among neighbors Originally published February 21, 2003 John Turner Lee, a retired accountant who was a friendly presence in his Anne Arundel County neighborhood, died of a heart attack Sunday while shoveling snow at his home in Hanover. He was 65. Family members said Mr. Lee began clearing snow Saturday at his home. Sunday morning, he went out again, then came in before lunch. He resumed shoveling later in the afternoon on a 40-foot section of blacktop leading to his garage, where family members found him unconscious. Mr. Lee was born in Stroudsburg, Pa., and played tuba in the Stroudsburg High School band. He served in the Army from 1961 to 1965, including an assignment in West Germany, and once drove from Norway to Italy in a blue Volkswagen Beetle while on leave. He moved to Maryland in 1965 and earned a degree in accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park. He retired last year as comptroller at Southern Insulation in Hyattsville. Earlier, he was comptroller for Cossentino Contracting Co. of Rosedale, an underground-utilities business, and for many years was treasurer for Jones and Artis Construction in Landover. "He was a character," said Paula King, a former co-worker at Southern Insulation. "He made the office come to life and kept us on our toes. He had a positive attitude and was so easy to work with. I'll never forget his great personality." "He was pretty well known in our little neighborhood because he walked around so much and started conversations, especially if you had just moved in," said Linda Griffith, his next-door neighbor for 26 years. "The time went by quickly when you talked with John. He was never at a loss for words. I never saw him frown or yell. He was always willing to lend you anything he had." Elaine T. McLaughlin, a friend from Riva he met at a Sunday school function 27 years ago, said, "He was the life of the party. He just loved to be around people." Friends said Mr. Lee liked to play pinochle and followed professional and high school football. A Mason, he belonged to the Glen Burnie Lodge. He traveled in Canada, Puerto Rico and the American West. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Wesley Grove United Methodist Church, 1320 Dorsey Road, Harmans, where Mr. Lee sang in the choir. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, the former Joan Mae Lake, comptroller for the Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors and manager of its credit union; a daughter, Susan Elizabeth Clark of Hanover; a brother, Philip D. Lee of Silver Spring; a sister, Ida L. Wescott of Virginia Beach, Va.; and a granddaughter.
