I don't know if this will help you, but I have an obituary that has your Mattie in it. John B. Yocum, 69, of 54 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Mount Union, died at 4:40 a. m. Wednesday, Dec.21,1988, at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Dec. 23, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. The Rev. William Wollett officiated. Interment was made in the Mount Union Cemetery. He was born March 17, 1919, in Mount Union, the son of the late George and Mattie (Ginithin) Yocum. He was united in marriage to Florine Hiles in 1948. She survives in Mount Union. Two children, John K. Yocum, Smith Valley and Mrs. Edward (Mary Ann) Miller, Newton Hamilton, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive. One sister Mrs. Leslie (Mildred) Gearhart, McVeytown, R. D.1 and one brother, Russell Yocum, Austin Tex. also survive. He was preceded in death by one grandson, one great-grandson, three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Yocum was of the Presbyterian faith and instrumental in the formation of the Mount Union Area Youth Baseball League. He was educated in the Mount Union Area Schools and was a veteran of WW II serving in the U. S. Army. He retired from the Harbison-Walker Refractories in 1984 and worked in construction prior to that. I may have more information on Mattie. If I do, I will send it. Barbara Neff barbandernie@pa.net
