Does your Archibald Stewart connect back to Philadelphia? My COX line is somewhow connected to Stewart. My ancestor, Paul Cox, a Philadelphian, married a woman who had a son named Archibald Stewart. Paul Cox's will (1823), left to "Archibald Stewart the son of my late wife the farm on which he resides in Mifflin County. . . ." There also was an Archibald Stewart who was a sea captain who sailed out of Philadelphia. In the 24 July 1799 issue of the Phila. GAZETTE, there was notice of a "Marshal's Sale" which included a property of "317 acres No. 721, located and patented by Archibald Stewart, situate on the westerly side of the N.E. barnch of Susquehanna, a little below the mouth of Tunnehannack creek." Nine other large parcels of land are also listed, apparently all owned by Stewart, because at the end of the list we read, "Seized and taken in execution as the property of Archibald Stewart, deceased, and to be sold by William Nichols, Marshal." I think that some, or all of these parcels are in Northumberland County, but as a Chicagoan, I'm by no means sure. Does the Cox connection ring any bells with anyone?
