Obituary of Mary Maria Kagarise Ebbs wife of Emanuel Ebbs II Bellefonte Republican Nov. 13, 1884 We also record the death of Mrs. Mary M. Ebbs, which occurred on the 30th ult, at the residence of Mr. George Cornelius of this place. Deceased was born May 5, 1810, thus reaching the age of 74 years, 1 month and 25 days. She was the mother of twelve children and saw eleven of them happily married (one dying when a child). Eight of them are still living -five daughters and three sons. She had sixty-five grand-children and twenty great grand-children, twenty-six of the former and four of the latter attending her funeral, which took place on Saturday. Her remains were interred in the Ross cemetery, Rev. W. R. Whitney officiating. She was a consistent member of the M. E. church for 54 years and died triumphing in the faith that in life was her mainstay and guide, leaving to her children a bright testimony of the assurance in death of the believing Christian. She is gone, but their loss in her gain. She has only left the church militant on earth to join the church triumphant in heaven, there to sing praises to the Lamb forever. By request, we append the deceased's favorite hymn, desiring its publication for the reason that it has long ago passed from the list of orthodox hymns.
