Hi List, Rucilla Gilliland may have been born about 1831 and may have been a daughter of Matthew & Jane Cluggage Gilliland. Have found no proof of this. I'm not even sure that Rucilla was her real name - maybe a nickname. On 04 May 1867 in Newton Hamilton, she gave birth to a son whom she named William Grant Gailey. There have been various suggestions as to whom the father was and whether or not she was married to him. Rucilla died 26 Sep 1870 and is supposedly buried in Newton Hamilton - don't know the cemetery. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Carolyn (TX)
She is listed on p. 979, The Cemeteries of Mifflin County in Wayne Methodist Cemetery in Wayne Township "Rucilla, dau of Matthew & Jane Gilliland, Sept. 26, 1870, 39 yrs. 8 mos. 23 days, 'Our Sister' --erected by Phoebe & James Gilliland" Evelyn Pecht Iowa ----- Original Message ----- From: "ostonesfun" <ostonesfun@juno.com> To: "PA Mifflin" <PAMIFFLI@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 30, 2008 6:12 PM Subject: [PAMIFFLI] Who was Rucilla Gilliland? > Hi List, > Rucilla Gilliland may have been born about 1831 and may have been a > daughter of Matthew & Jane Cluggage Gilliland.
