It appears Daniel died during or shortly after the trip. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Hi, I am not researching this family, but thought I would see if I could help you find a lead. I can't tell what info you already have. Note that the spelling of the surname changed on each census I'm listing, probably the census taker's best guess on how to spell it. Daniel was already married to Mary in 1850. It is likely that she is the mother of baby Daniel who is 9 mos. old. So they probably would have gotten married by Feb 1849, at the latest, which is 18 mos prior to the date the 1850 census was recorded. On 1850 census, taken on Oct. 28th, Derry township, Mifflin Co. Beshoer, Daniel, 45, farmer, realty valued at $9,000, born PA (all in family are born in PA). Mary, 19 Michael, 18 Anna, 16 Sarah, 14 Hannah, 13 Susanna, 11, "idiot" Elizabeth, 9 Barbara, 7 Aseneth, 4 Daniel, 9/12 On 1860 census, Derry township, done on June 16, 1860, Mary is age 29 and was born in PA. (All in the house were born in PA.) Mary's birth year would be 1831. Household is: Bashoar, Dan'l, age 54, M, farmer, realty valued at $15,000, personal property valued at $3,000, born in PA. Mary, 29 Hannah, 21, in school Elizabeth, 18, in school Barbara, 16, in school Daniel, 10, in school Adaline, 8, in school James, 5 Margaret, 3 Hiram, 1 Senith (Aseneth), 12, in school Jacob Stineberger, 16, farm laborer Alfred Stineberger, 14, farm laborer Living on the farm next door with a family named Hinely, is Martha Bashoar, age 19, domestic. Probably another daughter of Daniel. On 1870 census, taken July 12th, Mary is living in Jackson township, White Co., Indiana, keeping house for her children: Bashore, Mary, 39, no realty, personal property valued at $2,500. (must be renting). James, 15, born PA Maggie, 13, in school, born PA Hiram, 11, in school, born PA Abbert, 9, in school, born PA Alice, 6, born PA (birth year 1894) William, 4, born Indiana (birth year 1896) So, she moved to Indiana between 1894 and 1896, and husband Daniel must have been alive until summer or fall of 1895, depending on son Daniel's birth month. That may help you track down a death notice. Also on the 1850 census, for Cicero, Tipton Co., Indiana, there is a Smith family that moved there from PA., and includes a daughter Mary, age 19, born in PA. A couple of her brothers have same names as two Beshoer/Bashoar/Bashore children - Hiram and William. Perhaps this could be your Mary Smith and explain why the family moved back to Indiana. This family is: Smith, Alexander, 46, farmer, realty valued at $600, born PA Catherine, 40, born PA Mary, 19, born PA, in school Sarah, 17, born IN, in school John, 16, IN, in school William, 12, IN, in school Hiram, 7, IN, in school Martha, 5, IN Maria, 3, IN Catherine, 10/12, IN I suggest you pursue records for each of the children, including newspaper clips, about birth, graduation, marriage, death, etc. They might provide more information about Mary and her extended family. Social notices often name attendees at the event and identify members present from the extended family. I hope this info will prove helpful. Good luck.
