Since Conkey had left Tenn or KY before the Indian rolls were taken he was not in the records and before they took the rolls in the other state, he had left there. If I remember correctly that was when he started working for John Gilmore or Gilmor. But fleeing the last state may have been when he took the Gilmore name. It's been a long time since I worked on this line but I was told someone had a copy of a letter that was writen to his daughter which said he had to flee the state because he had killed a white man.
