This article was in the LEWISTOWN (PA) SENTINEL, Jan. 20, 2005 The Mifflin County Historical Society will sponsor a Beginning Genealogist Workshop, 6-8 p.m., Monday-Tuesday, March 7-8, 2005, at the MSHS Research Library in the historic county courthouse. Classes will be "How Do I Organize?" on Monday and "Where Do I Get More Facts?" on Tuesday. Classes will be taught by Molly Metz Bourg of Kishacoquillas Genealogical Research. For those doing genealogy or other research on their own, the MCHS Research Library is open to the public 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month. Volunteers are available to assist patrons with research. Also, copies of the MCHS' "It Happened in Mifflin County" book now are available at Friendship Bookstore in the Mifflin County Commons. Described as an American history with a central Pennsylvania connection, the book was compiled by Forest K. Fisher, past president of the MCHS and editor of its newsletter. Featured are essays that appeared originally in the newsletter, "Notes From Monument Square", and almost 200 vintage photographs, etchings and early maps. In addition to Friendship Bookstore, copies can be picked up 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Wednesdays at the MCHS office in the historic courthouse, Lewistown. Books also are available 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays in the Juniata Valley Visitors Bureau Gift Shop, also located in the historic courthouse. The cost is $14.75.
