In particular if a grave site is listed for a David Taylor, deceased approximately Feb. 1842. We think he is buried there but the stone is washed out over time. There are two cemetery sections - the Presbyterian and Methodist that are beside each other. There also is the newer cemetery on the hill behind the town. The original Presbyterian church records are in Philadelphia at the Presbyterain History Center and may be on line with the LDS church. I found them a number of years ago (they had ended up in Scranton somehow) and they were to be copied and sent to Salt Lake. I have not checked to see if it was done yet. Just a brief note on Mifflin County. The history of Hewton Hamilton is very rich with several persons reaching national fame including a US Senator and several very very important and influential bankers and rail magnets in Kansas. Kroger's markets can trace its roots to Newton Hamilton. The Postlethwaite family is rich with history in many counties and states.. Maybe we can get some new blood intersted and bring this town and Mifflin county out of the past. There are cemeteries in Mifflin county that lie in ruins not marked, plowed over or stones stolen - inexcusable in todays world. No one sems to care. Researching Mifflin County isn't easy. Not many seem interested in moving forward although those that do help are very good and cooperative. Maybe the info isn't there, but I have trouble believing this supposed fact. Mifflin County claims it has no money to support the effort. Maybe so, but I believe now is the time move forward and suggest a little help from the county !!!
