No Obituary for William, earliest Briggs obit found was for Priscilla in 1877. No tombstone, No marriage license for a William Briggs. There are NO wills for the surname Briggs listed between 1789 - 1900 in all of Mifflin County. No reference to him in any of the newspaper articles before or after 1850. He is not listed as a Grantee on any land records in Mifflin County in 1850 or earlier. Based on the census records he vanished between summer of 1850, and about Oct. 1854. The only possible clue I did find was an early marriage (*and it would be a long shot) listed as follows: "Mr. Briggs married Miss Howell both of Perryville, on 15th inst. by Rev. S.M. Smucker....Oct.22,1845 SOURCE: Lewistown Republican newspaper ( *NOTE: this is present day Port Royal, Juniata County,Pa.which is beside Mifflin and Huntingdon Counties.) There were two early Briggs marriages I did find: " John Hoover, Dry Valley (*now Burnham,Pa) md. Jane Briggs, Waynesburg (*now McVeytown,Pa) April 26,1832"..(*both locations are in Mifflin County,Pa) "Daniel Brighs & Mary Ann Thompson, both of Kishacoquillas Valley ( *now Belleville,Pa) Feb. 24,1835" (*Waynesburg and Kishacoquillas Valley are both on the end of Mifflin County that is nearest to Huntingdon County) Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
