The names Pownell / Teeters are not common to Mifflin County. I did a search of the books I have (few cover Centre County) and found 3 listings for Pownell in Centre County , @1893 & 1899, in the Bellefonte, Centre County area. The only early listing / date for Pownell is from a later report in May 1905. (* are my notes to you) SOURCE: The Centre Hall Reporter ,May 12, 1905. (*newspaper obit: ABSTRACT.) William F. Pownell died at his home near Yarnell (*Centre County, west of Mifflin County) on Saturday. Born March 27, 1856. Wife = Mrs. Nettie Pownell, Mother = Mrs. Mary Wilson of Yarnell. Children = Ellis B., Mrs. George McClincy, Elmer M., Samantha, Laura, Lloyd. A Brother = Calvin Pownell, and a 1/2 Brother = Harris Walker. Buried = Messiah Church.(*location not named) I found no Teeters in Mifflin, Center, Snyder , or Union Counties in any of the books in my library. That is not to say that they were definitely not here, just that they do not show in anything I own. If I were searching those names I would look in the Clinton, Blair & Huntingdon County areas, just because they adjoin Centre County. Unfortunately, I do not have those areas in any of my books. Here are the Spottswood obits. in Mifflin County as follows: SOURCE: The Lewistown True Democrat newspaper, Dated - May 7 1862. {Henry Walter Spotswood, died, infant son of Charles C. & Nancy J. Spotswood, formerly of Lewistown died at Lake City, Mnnesota, April 21,1862, age 1 year, 17 days} (*only 1 "T" in name in obit) SOURCE: The Lewistown True Democrat newspaper, Dated - May 10, 1883. {Nancy J. Spottswood, wife of CC Spotwood(*sic) Esq., formerly of Lewistown, age 50 years, died at Farmington, Minnesota on May 5th.} SOURCE: The Lewistown Sentinel & Democrat newspaper, Dated - Jan. 7, 1886. {Will Spotswood, oldest son of Charles Spotswood (*sic) who moved to Minnesota years ago is here visiting. The mother died many years ago who was Nancy Jane Lilly.} The only other marriage of a Spottswood is in an abstract as follows: SOURCE: “Marriages of Mifflin County 1822 – 1885” { Scott Ransom married Anna M. Spottswood, daughter of Charles C. & Nancy J., formerly of Lewistown, now Willmar, Minnesota, July 1881.} There is no one by the name of Spottswood known to have fought in the Civil War or Revolutionary War, while living in Mifflin County, Pa. In another book of abstracts series taken from various newspapers of the time, SOURCE: “Former Residents of Mifflin County 1832 - 1883” P.1, entry 10 = {Martin Johns, C.C.Spotswood, John Creamer, M. Montgomery, and W.J. Jacobs all go to Lake City, Minnesota, April,30, 1857} P.13, entry 230 = {Mr. & Mrs. CC Spottswood, formerly of Lewistown, celebrated 25 years of married life on April 9, 1875. They live at Willmar, Minnesota, DATED – April7, 1875} P.20, entry 338 -= {Charles Spotswood and wife from lake City, Minnesota are visiting, Sept.27, 1876} i have no other data on Spottswood in any of my books. Glad to be of help, *E*
