Abt. 1841. Generation No. 2 2. JACOB2 REED (DANIEL1) was born Abt. 1841. He married (1) ELIZEBETH YETTER 07 Aug 1862 in Yeagertown, Mifflin Co., PA, daughter of LUDWIG YEATTER and SUSANNAH KREBS. She was born 06 Dec 1841 in Decatur Twp., Mifflin, Co., PA, and died 21 Jan 1886 in Macon Co., MO. He married (2) CAROLINE HIEVNER 19 Oct 1887 in C P Church. Notes for JACOB REED: The August 20, 1862 Lewistown True Democrat announced the wedding of "Jacob Reed of Zieglerville married Elizabeth Yetter Aug. 7 at Yeagertown, PA". The 1870 U.S. MO census places Jacob and family in Jackson Twp, Macon Co, MO. Jacob was listed as a Farmer with $300 of personal estate value. No real estate assessment was shown. As also noted in the 1880 census, Jacob Reed and Family were counted in the census very near Jacob Yetter's farm. Jacob Yetter was #305 and the Reeds were #308. In 1880 the Jacob Yetter farm was #140 counted and the Reeds were #144. Because that there is a three or four house count separation, one might assume that Jacob Reed did not live on his brother in-law's farm, but nearby. Remember that Elizabeth was the youngest Yetter sister and that Jacob and Elizabeth Reed did house and probably care for mother Susannah Yetter. The sibling family bound may have been close. Unfortunately, as is frequently the case, The burned 1890 census files breaks our tracking of the Reed family. Without an index of the 1900 census I was unable to locate the Reed family although their daughter 16 year-old Hattie was listed as a servant working for an elderly couple farming about a mile and a half directly northeast of the Jacob Yetter family farm. As a side note regarding the possibility of strong family bounds, in the 1880 census Jacob Yetter's oldest son Henry lived with and worked on his Uncle Joseph's farm in neighboring Lyda Twp. Joseph and Jacob Yetter's younger brother "Ard" (Ardance) was listed as living-with and working for Charles Overton, farming and working livestock. These two farms were #5 and #7 in count by the census taker. From looking at two differnet plats Jacob Yetter and his brother Joseph probably never lived more than about 5 miles apart while residing in Macon County.
