Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AcB.2ACE/1556.1 Message Board Post: Hello Marcia, In the 1930's and 1940's, when we travelled from Northumberland Co. to visit Grandpa Sulouff's brothers and sisters in Mifflin Co., we always thought of Lewistown and Milroy as being in the same area. Lewistown and Milroy are only about ten miles apart. It was not local raw materials that led to establishment of silk mills in SE Pennsylvania in those days: it was availablity of local work force. Wouldn't it seem unlikely that there were two silk mills within the same small area of Lewistown, Burnham, and Milroy? The next nearest silk mill I know anything about was in Sunbury, some 40 miles to the east. Cheers, Nelson
