Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AcB.2ACE/1282.35.1 Message Board Post: from the book: James Ross, native of Ireland, came to York county about 1760, when at age 14 and in 1762 warranted land in Mifflin county (then Cumberland county) on February 3, 1762. His sons were James, David, and General John Ross. His daughters were Mary (John Criswell), Sarah (John Postlethwait), Martha (William Jenkins), Elizabeth(willima McKinstry), and Jane (David Criswell). Colonel William Postlethwait, who settled at Mt. Union, and his 2 half-brothers, Thomas and Samuel, were the first of that name in the county, settling here about 1800. Colonel William had 3 sons (William, Thomas and Joseph). The first time anyone by the name of John Postlethwait shows up in Wayne twp is in 1829, when he bought the 'Logan House" where he kept a tavern.
