Our family records show Solomon and Mary Steele. Solomon died in 1889. They had at least two daughters, Martha Steele Bickel and Emma Steele Hempel. They seem to have relocated to Iowa later in their family life. Can you let me know if these are the same Steele's you have? Thank You! 1. [PAMIFFLI] Happy Birthay Elizabeth Ross GLANT
    2. Donna Terrian
    3. Today, October 11th is my g.g.grandmother's birthday. Elizabeth Ross was born in 1825 - in Mifflin County - I suspect near McVeytown. She was one of 9 children to James Ross (1796-1847) and Susan Satzler (1800 - 1879). Elizabeth married Henry GLANT approx. 1845 and they had 10 children, raising them in McVeytown. Very little info. on Eliz. and Henry, which is surprising with the ROSS family so prominent in Mifflin Co. Elizabeth died 27 Nov. 1891 and is buried at Mattawana Cemetery. Henry died 8 Nov 1892, buried next to her. Always enjoy hearing from those related to this Ross/Glant line. Donna Glant Terrian, Apopka

LEWISTOWN, Pa., June 30. - Mrs. Forsythe, widow of Robert Forsythe, who resides on a farm in Derry township, met with a horrible accident at this place this morning. After doing some shopping in town she was driving home and in passing the tannery, while she was leaning forward, the horse frightened and kicked her a terrific blow, crushing in her face, forcing one eye out of the socket and destroying the sight of the other. Her recovery is not expected. Morning Tribune, Saturday, July 1, 1899 ---------------------- I'm not related. I'm just typing obits and happened on this article. Judy

    1. Re: [PAMIFFLI] Weaver Families of Mifflin County
    2. Hi Bea - I have early WEAVER/WEBER ancestors; mid to late 1700s located in Lancaster County. They are part of my STOVER - YOUNG - STOVER lines, some of whom moved into Mifflin, Northampton, Centre Counties. I haven't done much on that particular WEAVER/WEBER since I'm still stuck in the early 1800s. You didn't mention dates, so don't know if this will apply. I have another WEBER line, immigrated from Baden, probably via Alsace, ca 1838-40. This would be ggrandfather George WEAVER/WEBER, who arrived at age 7. A month or so ago I did find a WEAVER/WEBER family on an 1838 ship list which included a 6 year old male, headed for Philadelphia. This is the closest I've come to a maybe in 10 years of searching - and have not had time to pursue this in the past month. Whether they stayed in Philly or moved to another area, I have no clue as yet. This family was very dysfunctional as far as I can tell - and there was little oral family history imparted. I have information of this George, the 1870 census in Cameron County, but have been unable to trace him back any further. The census included wife Elizabeth age 38, b. PA, sons Joseph, age 3, Franklin, age 11 mos both b. PA. My grandfather, George G. WEBER was born 1876 either in Elk or Kean County. Have not been able to verify that yet, either. If any of this information resonates with you or fits your search, I would be so happy to find another researching either of these lines of WEAVER/WEBER. Regards, Jan J. L. I only do work from my home now..........if I find something in a book i'll send it....I have problems getting time to go to the Historical Society. Maybe another on this site would care to help gather these for you. I did ask that my name be removed from the list since I don't have the time to help - at this time ! Staff Sgt. Robert J. Flood, 22, was a member of the U.S. Army Air Force 856th Bomber Squadron, 492nd Bomber Group, which operated from Norfolk, England during the war, according to information posted on the bomber group’s historical Web site, www.492ndbombgroup.com. During one of the group’s numerous bombing missions in the European Theater, Flood’s B-24 Liberator received heavy enemy fire and crashed in an area southwest of Berlin, killing the entire crew, according to the Web site. Initial reports filed after the mission erroneously claimed the plane was lost over the Baltic Sea, and the names of the crewmen, including Flood, were listed on the Wall of the Missing, in Henri-Chapelle, Belgium, the Web site indicates. The wreckage and remains of the crew were not found until nearly 60 years later, during an archeological dig in Germany. Flood, who was born in Neelyton, Huntingdon County, is survived by a brother, Richard, who resides in Mifflintown, according to an obituary submitted by the Agett Geisel Funeral Home, of Dry Run. Flood’s identity was confirmed by Army officials, who subsequently coordinated the return of his remains to the United States, said Carol Clark-Bainey, unit administrator for the U.S. Army Reserve Center in Lewistown. Clark-Bainey said soldiers from her unit, Detachment 3 of the 318th Maintenance Company, will act as the honor guard during funeral services for Flood, which are scheduled for Saturday. 3. Hi Bea, Susan H. (Wright) Kuhns was a sister to my William Rufus Wright. Their parents: Thomas C. and Lucinda (Knepp) Wright. I'm pretty sure that I have a photo of Susan that I received from another cousin a few years ago. Her line came down through Susan's other brother, Charles. What is your connection to these folks? 1. Re: [PAMIFFLI] Samuel's United Church of Christ, Decatur Township, Mifflin County
    2. Hi Melissa, Sure would like to know more about your Daniel HOFFMAN.... I am researching the line of Hoffman's that bought land in Union Co (then Northumberland) in White Deer in the 1790's Hoping we may have a connection.....! My line begins with "Jost Hoffman" through son John, who married Cathrine BAKER, and their son George, who married Mary Gauvar/Gauver and their son John, who married Lucy KOSER. Recently another researcher shared info which seems to confirm that my earliest known ancestor, Jost HOFFMAN, is the same as the Jost Hoffman of Millbach Reformed Church, Dauphin/Heidelberg area, who married Mary Margaret MEISER. Jost and Mary had 3 sons, John, George and Jacob. Plus a number of daughters, at least two of whom married into the Troutman line. Jost's Will enabled his 3 sons to buy his tracts of land, one in Dauphin Co, the other two in Northumberland....now Union I was in the Lewisburg Courthouse a few weeks ago, copying Wills/Letters of Admin for the man I believe to be my John Hoffman, as well as the George Hoffman who was likely his brother. (The names John, George and Michael recur in these lines with depressing regularity... so it gets confusing.) I would be very interested to hear from you and learn if your Daniel or Amanda are in any way connected to this batch of Jost's children I just learned about! Sorry this email is so vague, I'm rushing to prep for out of town guests right now..... but I will be eager to share info and details if you think there is a connection. Also, my Bixler line intermarried with some Gramley's. They were all in Lycoming County. If you have not done so already, you may want to query the Lycoming list for "GRAMLEY" connections, I think you will get some responses. 3. Hello, Thought that the information below might help someone. These are all of my relations (I think so, anyway <grin>) that are buried at Samuel's. There sure are a lot of them. If anyone has any connections to any of these folks, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks! Melissa F.
