Nor is there any other name beginning with "Hope..." listed for Mifflin or mother Cumberland Counties in these same publications. You might want to contact the Mifflin Co. 1. [PAMIFFLI] Juniata Co. Historical Society hosting a bus trip to Washington D.C.
    2. Donna Heller Zinn
    3. Good Mornin' Fellow Listers: Just got word from Terry Wheeler of the Juniata County Historical Society that they are having another bus trip to Washington D.C. on Wednesday, October 22nd. Cost is generally $40 per person but they are still waiting for the quote from the bus company - which probably will be in August. The usual drop-offs are at the D.A.R. and at the National Archives... but you can use this as a sight-seeing day also. There are at least two pickup points: 1. Mifflintown, Juniata Co., PA. 2. Boscov's Mall, Camphill, Cumberland Co., PA. at 7:00 a.m. Eats are "on your own" while in Washington and also on the return trip. The bus usually stops at Mountain Gate Family Restaurant where their food is delicious and they have a smorgasbord. The cost for the evening meal usually runs around $13 for the smorgasbord (drink, tax and tip included) - however with the ever rising costs of everything else, this may also run more. The deadline for seats and money is normally one month prior to the date. For more information you can contact Terry Wheeler at his personal e-mail address: tlw1940@pa.net or through the Juniata County Historical Society's e-mail address: jchs1931@pa.net

I have records to prove they were there....I think they were either non-nortorious or invisable and no one noticed them. : ) I always keep in mind, there were no mandatory records kept in the state until 1906. Though they started earlier, I know, with jottings here and there. I'm just hoping that one day I will come across something that IS here or there! : ) Maybe someone will actually go down in the basements and start copying dusty old books. I know I would be doing that if I lived there. : ) This is a very nice service you are doing for the genealogists. Thanks again. So very sorry. Is there anyone else in that county that I could look up for you? :-((((((( Sue Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They resided on a farm in the Cromwell Tract, North east of Newton Hamilton in the mid to late 1700s. I think James Sr. died abt. 1816. I beleive all of the children were born in the county. Wayne Twp. Also interested in the surname KOPLIN (Sophia was my 2-grt. grandmother) I would truely appreciate any time you spend on this search. 1. [PAMIFFLI] William Wood>John> John
    2. Am seeking documentation on John Wood (abt 1759-1808) and his son William. John2, son on John, died in Clermont, Ohio. William died in Edgar, Illinois. John1 died in Derry, Mifflin, PA in 1799. He had several pieces of property that his son sold after his death. William and John 2 were born Mifflin. Brothers to John2 are: Joseph, Jerriah, David, and Absalom. There is no wife's name for John 1. Daughters are: Cathrine, Jean, Elizabeth, Martha, Mary, Jean Anar and John Anar (husband and wife) Exec. John Woods, son and Elisha Manning. Several of these children married children of Nathan Manning. John2 wife's name was Margaret. John2 & Margaret probably married in 1783 in Mifflin. "John Wood was an associate judge in early Clermont County. He took ill at a court session in the then county seat of Williamsburgh, rode home and died the next day at his home near Neville, in Washington Twp. He was responsible for starting the first school in southern Clermont County, for the education of his children and those of the neighbors. (Most of this information comes from Ewert's "The History of Clermont County, Ohio." He probably moved to Clermont about 1799. Carolee California **************Gas prices getting you down?
