Census records indicate that they lived in Turbett Twp, Mifflin county in 1820 and 1830 and in Turbett Twp, Juniata Co in 1840 and 1850. David must have died between 1850 and 1860 as his wife Barbara appears to be the Barbara HOKE living in the BARNARD household in Spruce Hill Twp, Juniata Co in 1860. Lately I've been trying to trace the movements of the various branches of the Treon tree, but am quickly becoming bogged down in volume. We used to think the Treon line was extremely rare, perhaps all stemming from the same set of brothers (Drion), and that would help narrow the search. But I recently purchased a book "The Treon Name in History", published by ancestry.com. It's not as informative as I had expected, but it does yield some interesting information about all the different places from which Treons immigrated. Although I do believe our common line came from the Alsace-Lorraine (or other German area), other Treons came from many other regions in Europe. Treons in general are much more numerous than we thought possible, which only complicates the search further. I even did a ! search on the names Gustus/Augustus/August and was amazed at how popular that name was in the mid-19th century. We even have an Augustus on my mom's side from TN. I'm anxious to look again at the Adam Treon branch and perhaps that will yield some clues. Would you be willing to email me more about the Adam branch, perhaps there might be something there for us. Thanks so much! Astrid Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. MO Light Artillery as a private. I don't know if he is related, but it seems like a big coincidence that he was also in Missouri! Then, there was an Auguste DRION who fought for the Confederacy in Louisiana as well. (Zouave Btn, Co.B as a private.) I am stil believing that TREON and DRION are related and are just spelling variations. My opinion. B. Treon Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Treon of Northumberland County. Many of the famiy are buried at Himmel's Church in Rebuck PA. I have never been there. Older Treon's (Trion, Drion, Tryon) are buried at Lancaster. Go to www.findagrave.com and there are photos that are interesting of graves. My family is from Adam R. Treon's son John Henry and his son George Wesley Treon. I wish I knew more to help you. There are no family stories that could explain his being with them. But he was already living with a Weaver family when he was 9 in the 1870 Census, then with a different Weaver family at the 1880 Census. It seems most likely he was born in Northumberland County where he first surfaced in 1870, but we have not yet located any record. We could only speculate that he might be orphaned after the Civil War and perhaps living with relatives or someone who took him in for farm labor. But that is PURE speculation. Looking through the Census records of that time, it seemed a fairly common practice to place children with neighbors or other families as servants or farm hands, especially in large families-there are other Treon children in various censuses that are not with their families either. We've tried everything we can think of to trace him; there's no death certificate because he died at home in 1908; there's no mention of sibl! ings in his will; there's nothing in the family records, only the youngest son's recollection that he never mentioned brothers/sisters and barely spoke English but rather German/PA Dutch (apparently thanks to the Weavers). Frankly, Wilson has been an absolute dead-end for us for the last 30 years! I'm seriously thinking about a trip to PA in hopes that MAYBE I can turn up something in person. If you have ANY suggestions, they will be gratefully accepted!! :) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
