His is not list with Rachel in th 1870 census and she is a widow on the 1880 census. I did find a John Longebaugh in 1870 census at the Eastern Pennsylvania Penitentiary. Supposely their son Harry was born abt 1869 and daughter Lottie in 1874. I also found a John Lonabaugh son of Joseph in the 1850 & 1860 census. Hello Folks: The Perry Historians, a genealogical library located northeast of New Bloomfield, Perry Co., PA. on Rt.34 are going to be holding our annual Genealogical Workshop (a Beginners Workshop) at the Harry Lenig Library on Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Please note that this year we are breaking our workshops into two groups - as we have had many folks in the past who were just starting out and we could not concentrate on what you do when you begin family research and the sources available - we had to split the day devoting the secondhalf to those who had been doing research for a while. But on this day (March 7th) we will be holding our workshop for those who are beginning their family tree. Then on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., we will be holding another Genealogical Workshop - this time an Advanced resource day for those who have been doing research for a while and may need assistance and suggestions on how to "break those walls down". All are welcome and it is FREE of charge. All we ask is that you let us know at least a week in advance that you may be attending - so that we have enough handouts available - by e-mailing: Donna@ThePerryHistorians.org For more information about our library - you can check out our website: www.ThePerryHistorians.org Look forward to seeing you there! I was in Mifflin last September. They have a nice new courthouse and the old materials seem to be well managed. I wish some other counties would do as well. I'm excited to know that you have years of death, and location of burials. I couldn't seem to find any information on Aaron & Malinda past the 1880 Census. Since there was no mention of Harry. Knowing he was born in 1880 to an Aaron & Malinda. I was trying be positive, they were the parents of Harry T. Shilling. Which is my husband's paternal grandfather. Yes, you've got the exact Harry & Clara I was referring to. I have the descendants from them. >From the information you gave me I hope to further find more dates of marriage, hopefully even find Mary's maiden name. Mary wife of Michael Shilling. Would you by any chance know if Mifflin Co. would have these records from early 1800's? I'm very willing to make a trip to research what I can. Aaron is with his family in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Decatur, Mifflin censuses. He was born abt 1848 and his father was Michael, born abt 1803 and died 1879 (buried in Shippensburg). Wife Mary, born abt 1820 (so may be 2nd wife) died 1878. Siblings of Aaron were Mary, Abigail, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Catherine, George H., Sarah, John A., Amanda, Jacob, and Samuel. Aaron must have married Melinda abt 1871. Aaron died in 1889 and is also buried in Shippensburg, so you might get more information there. I can't find Melinda/Malinda in the 1900 census, but did find her in the 1910 Londonderry, Bedford, Pa census, a widow, aged 58. She says that she has had 11 children but just 9 still survive. Enumerated with here are single children Edward D. (was Daniel E. in the 1880 census), Virgie (24), and Emma (12). On the next page in the same Bedford census is son Elmer (was Charles E. in the 1880 census! ) with wife Bertha and their 5 children: Bulah(sic), Ralph, Oscar, Hazel, and Margaret. IN the Lewistown Democrat and Senator of 21 Jan 1897 is Charles Elmer's wedding announcement: married at bride's home in Wagner, C. Elmler Shilling to Bertha May Wagner on 17 Jan 1897. Elmer C (Jan 1876) and Bertha are in the 1900 Decatur census. In this census, daughter Beulah is listed as Ethel B. and enumberated with them are Elmer's brothers-in-law, James K. and John E. Wagner. Daniel Edward is listed in the WWI Draft registrations and says he was born 27 June 1878. In the 1910 Lewistown census there is a John R. Shilling (35) and wife Grace (also 35) with no children and her widower father with them, William Stewart. This could be the John Shilling who was 6 in the 1880 census. Is this your Harry in the 1920 Berlin, Somerset census?
