    2. Sandra Ferguson
    3. I'm beginning to research John Beatty, who lived in Mifflin Co and whose will went through Mifflin Probate in 1823. His daughter, Eleanor Beatty married George Baxter, in the congregation of The Rev. Cathcart, who was a Seceder Presbyterian minister who had congregations in Hopewell and York, York Co, Pa. I know nothing of John's religious beliefs, but am interested if finding Seceder Presbyterian ministers or congregations in Mifflin Co to see if perhaps John was a member...is anyone familiar with any Seceder churches? I've been looking over the messages you've posted, and I was curious if one of the children (George) you have listed for Thomas & Elizabeth. Is the same one in my husband's family. I didn't note any particulars for any of the children other than, I believe you said your Great Grandparents. Elmer & Ellie. If by chance they are one in the same. If you don't have any family information from that side, I would gladly share. Not that I have a lot. I've only recently tried to get it all together. I've also been trying to search using any formation of the surname spelling I can think of. The one most commonly used in this side of the family was MacKneer. 1. [PAMIFFLI] FREE Genealogical Workshops at The Perry Historians
    2. Donna Heller Zinn
    3. The Perry Historians is hosting its annual FREE Beginner Genealogical Workshop at the Harry Lenig Library outside of New Bloomfield, Perry Co., PA. on Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.. We're also going to be hosting a FREE Advanced Genealogical Workshop at the library on Saturday, April 4th also from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.. Both of these workshops are FREE and there will probably be plenty of time after the workshop to utilize the records and resources in our library for researching your families. Please note that on both days, we will take a lunch break - with lunch on your own. There are several restaurants in the area or you may brown-bag-it. We would just ask that you let us know if you are planning on attending so that we may make sure we have enough handout copies available - if we use them. You may contact me, if you have questions or would like to be included in the count. Donna Heller Zinn Donna@ThePerryHistorians.org

    1. [PAMIFFLI] Records - where are they?
    2. Helen Graves
    3. Josie Baughman has asked the list very good questions (in reply to Sandra's query). I'd like to know the answers, too, as I live in California and would like to know where the records are and when they begin, so I can conduct my research by mail. Some Mifflin Co. records were filmed by the LDS many years ago. Certainly there are records that were not filmed. For example, family information if it was submitted to the local historical-genealogical society. Does the society (or societies) have family files? My question: if I can't obtain records by mail, is there a reliable researcher for hire in Mifflin Co. who can go to the courthouse, to libraries, to the historical society, etc to research for me and obtain copies. In particular, I am very interested in Mifflin Co. deeds and probate records. Helen in N. 1. [PAMIFFLI] Mifflin County Strunks
    2. Karen McKellar
    3. I have been researching William Strunks descendants for several years. He had a large family and most of them settled in Mifflin County, some were in Berks, and some went west. My own branch went to Ohio. Much of the information appearing on the internet about his parents appears to be erroneous. I will be happy to check my data base for information on his family for anyone working specifically on this line. Barbara Rhein's line is well documented in Berks County. She was the daughter of David Rhein and Maria Appolina Meyer. The Strunk family in Berks County is very confusing as there appears to be at least two separate lines and possibly three. I do not know much about his second wife, Rebecca Bush/Brush. I have not done any research on her line since my ancestor is Barbara. I have traced the sons of this marriage, however.
