Good Day, I am in search of a little help. I am in search of a copy of an obit on a Christine (Haines) Strauss who died - not sure around 2005 ......does anyone have any books on the years from 2004 - 2006 that could do a look up as to the date of her death.....she and her husband both died the same day - in a motocycle accident. I don't have the husbands name. I only know that she was Christine Haines then married Brian Keith Ritter than a man with the last name of Strauss..... Christine and her husband died in Lewistown, Mifflin County, PA. Anyone ?? Thank you Kindly Bea beair@verizon.net

You can order directly online. According to Ancestry's 1890 Veteran's Census, Samuel was a private in Co. C of the 78th PA Infantry, enlisted 18 Feb 1865 and served until 11 Sep 1865. Ancestry has Elizabeth's widow's pension index card, but the image is not very readable. The pension appears to be filed 27 Aug 1888. I would have checked footnote.com to see if they had a more readable card, but their search function is not working at the moment. Ebbs who married Opal Marie Cupp. They are both from Missouri ... are these two part of your line??" I do not recognize the names without other connections. My ancestor was George Washington Ebbs; born TN about 1810, died in AR abt. 1880. His father was John Ebbs, born in Saltville Va abt. 1776. He had a very large family -- 10 . Most stayed in TN, cocke county. John Ebbs died about 1870, in TN. A large branch of descendants settled in the Ashville NC area. (E. TN and W. NC areas being close to the family home place) I think at least one descendant of John Ebbs family settled in Missouri. Do you have connections there? Bushley, is buried in the settler's cemetery in Mount Union, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. Her stone was located in the 1970's by a historian friend of mine who look pictures. (and 30 years later, we are researching all the persons who are interred in this cemetery). Mary's tombstone inscription (from photograph) says she died Nov. 29, 1859, aged 23 years, 8 months, 17 days. Along with her tombstone were those of her infant children with Henry T.: George H. and Howard L. George H. was 22 days old when he passed away Jan. 24, 1858. Howard L. died Feb. 28, 1855, aged 11 months, 25 days. Right now, (April 2009) Mary' and Howard's tombstones have not been relocated, but A fragment from George H.'s stone was found. We're so glad my friend thought to take photos all those years ago! The cemetery is located between the American Legion Post Home (The old stone Shaver House) and the Kistler Bridge. It's down over the embankment and is currently being cleaned up by the Legion. I can ask my friend for permission to post his photo of Mary's tombstone. She married Alexander Balmer and they were living in E. Whitby Twp., Ontario Co., Ontario as early as 1830. They had one daughter, Jennet, born 1836 and possibly another daughter, Margaret who died young. Elizabeth died in 1857. It is possible that she had a brother Alexander, who also lived in E.
