    1. [PAMIFFLI] Gertrude "Gerty" Campbell Harshbarger (Varner?)
    2. Christy Varner
    3. Hi, Looking for any information on a Gertrude "Gerty" Campbell Harshbarger (name I got from a cousin, plus little info too) born July 25, 1894 in Mifflin County, PA and was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth (Harshbarger) Varner (1878-1922) of Mifflin County. According the 1900 census Gertrude who was listed by her nickname Gerty was living with her mother Mary Elizabeth Harshbarger and her maternal grandfather Solomon Harshbarger but 1910 census she was going by her step-father last name Varner along with living with two half brother Samuel and William. I been told that she married a man with last name of Long and it was confirm in her mother obituary in March 1922 that she was living in Hollidaysburg as Gertrude Long at that time. I was told she died in May 1947, question is where? Any help would be great Christy Varner

    3. Hi, Thanks and there was also a copy of that obit in the Huntingdon Daily News, October 19, 1934 (Which I got copy of) and in it is spelled Hammon. I also just found out that also spelled with 'a' where the 'o' as in Hamman. That how it was spell in the 1910 census including Martha with her husband Robert P. Hamman, her brother John Merrits (later being spelled Merritts), and I think her step-daughter Lulu Hamman (age 15). I want to thank all you that help out and may all have a safe and happy holiday. 3. Hi Lorraine:   Yes, I'm still OK with you coming in the spring. We got about 8-12 inches here. I'm glad I don't have to go out in it (yet). At least not until the end of January when I go to do income taxes.   Today is the shortest day of the year so that means the days will be getting longer, too. Can't wait to be able to get out to the cemeteries again!   Have a great holiday and keep in touch. It will be fun to have a fellow "genie" here. 3. Hi Christy, I found a copy of that obit on Ancestry.com, as published in the Tyrone, PA. Daily Herald. That newspaper states the surname as HAMMOND, not HAMMON. There is an "Old" Lewistown cemetery. I don't know when they stopped interments there. FYI - There are transcriptions of The Cemeteries of Mifflin County on the Mifflin Co GenWeb site. Go to [1]http://www.pagenweb.org/~mifflin/ and click on the link for Cemeteries. It shows that there is at least one individual named Hammond buried in a cemetery called Little Valley, at Vira in Derry Township. It doesn't name the individual(s) so it will take further research. It's also possible that the cemetery info in the obit was wrong. Try tracking down the religious affiliation of the pastor who conducted the funeral service - Rev. Henry Stambaugh. That may lead to a particular church cemetery in Lewistown. Good luck, Tink At 12:21 PM 12/20/09, you wrote: Hi all, I am trying to location a cemetery in which my maternal Great Great Great-Grandmother Martha Jane Hammon (*'nee *Merritts, previously *Everhart*) is buried. Historical Society. It is listed as John M. Longabaugh to Rachel M? Bottorff in Mifflin Co., 28 July 1868. I am at a dead end on John M Lonabaugh/Longabaugh. He is not list with Rachel in the 1870 census (still with parents) and she is a widow on the 1880 census. I did find a John Longebaugh in 1870 census at the Eastern Pennsylvania Penitentiary. According to family bible, their son Harry was born abt. 1869 and daughter Lottie in 1874. I also found a John Lonabaugh, son of Joseph in the 1850 & 1860 census. With the mother's name of Charlotte which is similar to daughter Lottie's name. Thanks in advance for any information. He had seven brothers and sisters: George (Dec. 14, 1866-Jan. 22, 1920), Sarah "Sadie" (Feb. 19, 1869-Sept. 16, 1940; married to William Elden Johnston), William (Abt. 1873-Oct. 1921), James H.
